"Per Rosenthal, Anthopoulos was offered a long-term deal, and his decision to leave is not related to money or the length of the contract. Rosenthal believes Anthopoulos' departure has to do with the arrival of former Cleveland Indians president Mark Shapiro as Toronto's team president".

"Rick Westhead of TSN reported Thursday Shapiro "scolded" Anthopoulos and the Blue Jays staff "for trading so many top prospects this [year]" in their first and only meeting together".

"Steve Simmons of the Toronto Sun reported Anthopoulos wanted the full responsibilities of a general manager and recently told Simmons that "he wouldn't stay under conditions less than that."

At least AA has a championship ring, 3 NLCS appearances, and in the playoffs every year. Same could not be said about Shapiro, who has Zero Playoff Wins in now his 8th year. Shapiro wanted to have a say in personnel matter, and AA did not want that shared responsibility.

He was expecting to be promoted to president when Beeston retired. That would be the logical step after he took us to the ALCS. Instead, Ed hired his buddy Shapiro. AA saw this as a demotion since he had full autonomy under Beeston but would now have to answer to Shapiro, so he left. Ed knew full well AA wouldn't stay on in this scenario. He wanted AA out and this was a way to do it while keeping his hands clean.

so rogers didnt like AA? is there a reason for this?

This is the same guy who didn't want to extend Masai a few years ago. I'm guessing he doesn't like hotshot executives. He wants everyone to respect his authority. He always struck me as someone with a complex (his entire family hates him).

This team is a complete and total disaster right now. What is Vlad doing throwing home in that spot?

Mullins steals 2nd to stay out of a double play, eventually scores. KK stays at 1st, double play. What a clown show.

How can you have 8 hits and score only 1 run??

This is becoming a trend with this team. Hit with RISP FFS!

Replace the team with minor leaguers, this is disgusting.
