Got him from Cleveland, which was Atkins and Shapiro's former team. Probably did Zimmer a favor. Seems like when he need to get bench guys, we look at Cleveland first. :noway:

The problem was the Tapia trade. They traded a guy who could play CF away for a guy who couldn't. At that point, with Springer on the roster, they needed somebody who could actually field the position.

Tapia has shown no improvement at all. He has an atrocious 48 wRC+.

Zimmer is at a historically bad -24 wRC+. Effectively like sending a reliever up to hit right now.

Who's talking in the broadcast that said he was in the stadium during the 2016 World Series?

Effectively yes. Instead of one mediocre player as a 4th OF, they've replaced him with two bad players (one who can't hit or field at all and one who can field but hits like a pitcher).

Borucki can't be used against RHBs at all. That should do it for this one.

Are we trying to contend this year or no? Like, what's the plan? Because having those two in the lineup regularly is not something teams that are trying to win do.

Teams that care about winning don’t do half the stuff the Jays do. Unfortunately they’ve really put themselves into a corner with this Tapia/Zimmer thing (they need a backup major league CF due to Springer and neither can handle that role for different reasons) and the only thing they can likely do to get out of it is to cut at least one of them as soon as possible (which they are likely reluctant to do so early in the year).

Montoyo is going to continue to use all of his players no matter what so you have to just remove them from the equation completely.

Remember when people were snickering that the Yanks were beating up on the weaker teams......

Crucial we take advantage of teams like the 'Dianes. Wins are wins. Frustrating.

Zimmer has a -27 wRC+. Among players in franchise history with over 40 PA, Zimmer is 322nd out of 323 in that category (ahead of only Roy Halladay). This really can't go on any longer.

Agreed. It's only taken 40 PA's to convince me this guy is not Zac Veen....

Maybe we can bundle him and Tapia....
