Series win in the Bronx always a good thing. Amazing starting pitching lately too. Once the bats get going its gonna be a fun summer. And we got some home games coming up too.

I was pretty cynical on the Swanson trade, but he's been such a stabilizing presence when a lot of the other top guys are struggling.

First lost series of the year for the Yankees. They're exposed as bad schedule frauds as well.

A healthy Chad Green would be a wonderful addition to the pen, along with Nate Pearson. Not sure when he will be fully ready, but he would be a welcome addition in the late innings.

I was fine with trading Hernandez. Just not Gurriel and Moreno as well.

Yes they needed Swanson. Probably they couldn't have imagined needing him this much.

Anyone who watched them last year knew it. They did too. So much so they actually traded a silver slugger for him. Credit where credit is due.

Feels nice to be the only team to win a series against either the Rays or Yankees. Especially when we've done both.

This season has felt like it's gotten off to a slow start, but we're legit. It's going to be fun once everything starts firing.

Swanson was pretty damned elite last year. Honestly, we haven't seen the best of him this season...his calling card has been his pin-point command, which he has struggled with a tad thus far.

I still think we're likely to regret trading Moreno, but I don't miss Gurriel. He isn't a good enough fielder to be a fulltime OF, and he isn't a good enough hitter to be a fulltime DH.

The only factor that makes the Moreno trade somewhat more justifiable is the 4 years of control Varsho came with. Obvs Moreno has even more years, but it was a short term win-now move selling from a position of strength,, but it retains considerable longterm value. Anyway, as people know, we didn't completely sell out the future. Getting rid of Gurriel as a small salary dump was a small bonus.

Unfortunately I don't think the Jays have a high-end catching prospect anywhere in their system to backfill in 3-5 years. (lots can change)

Jays really well-positioned to add a tonne of life to their pitching staff post all-star break *all internally/at no cost* with Green, Pearson, Zulueta, and Tiedemann.

Zulu is inconsistent, Tiedemann needs a lot of stretching out. With no obvious starting role for him right now, a debut in 2024 seems more logical. Green is a maybe for September. Pearson might the most likely in the short term because Cimber, Richard, Bass and even Garcia seem to have difficulty delivering clean innings.

I disagree as I miss them both.

Gurriel is good enough to be a DH. hits high average each season. You can never have enough offense.

Unfortunately, on the Jays due to Kirk, Gurriel would likely never be full time DH and living with him on the field wasn't a great prospect. But the bat is missed. The sum total of the replacements for Gurriel's spot in the lineup will likely result in less average. Plus, the loss of Moreno with defense and potential offense. That is too much.

So I say, fine, you can trade Gurriel and Moreno but bring in a good OF defender with a more competent bat than Varsho. That is equal value.

The only way to justify that trade was the optimists who think Varsho will rake at Rogers. Maybe it will happen but no reason to bet on it.

Pearson is the only BP call up option if he stays healthy and consistent for once in his minor league career. Tiedemann is hopefully kept as a starter. Zulueta has bad #s thus far.

Other than those options, no one in triple A BP is impressing.
