The trouble is the inertia of thinking. Nothing bold. Fans would excuse bold. So, the team will limp along with this lineup, rather than just limiting its losses on a major leaguer who is clearly floundering, or dealing off a half-decent veteran to allow a good prospect to begin his adaptation to the major league level. You need all of April into early May to make more definitive judgments, but come mid-May, if things project like they are, I'd expect a normal management not obsessed with a failing image of itself, to give young guys at Buffalo who are excelling to get promoted, even if it means trading or releasing a veteran.

I'd also explore the market for Vlad and Bo, to see where the best offer might come for one of them, not both.

Why can’t we just try something else? New hitting coach, more small ball, aggressive on first pitch fastballs, really anything….just something

That would require Shatkins to do their jobs. Put yourself in their shoes. If you could go to work and get paid without doing any actual work, knowing your job is safe, would you do any work?

"The Toronto Run It Back Groundhog Day Blue Jays"
KK did great last season batting 9th but...
Atkins has probably said,"Let us forget about last season, and I spoke to the mgr,and told him to bat KK 7th,no matter what happens"
"As for Davis..."We feel that he is not ready to start consecutive games yet...sometimes he strikes out on high pitches"
"It would be better if he came off the bench, and won games late for us with 1,2,3,4 run bombs"
"We thank Guillermo for his coaching, and we are glad we made Mattingly the offensive co-ordinator"
"We are a serious team"
"ThankYou,and have a nice day"
Hmm..wonder what would happen if Mattingly became the HC,KK went back to batting 9th,where he was comfortable last year, and if they found a way to play Davis/Clement regularly or just even more.Plus if they fired Guillermo like everyone thought he would be.
Is this team trying to win every game it plays,or are they hoping to win,in spite of themselves.
Is this team playing for Toronto.
Its like they have been told to suck.
I almost hope NY kicks our asses all over the place, then maybe we will see them make a change,or Atkins will read a book about how to play, and manage baseball, and give it to Schneider to keep in the dugout during games.
This is what you get when GM,s are managers, and the FO values profits over winning chips.

I think one of the issues is they sincerely don't think they're doing anything wrong despite all evidence to the contrary. They'll keep renovating the Skydome with more cup holders and playing with their analytics models and dictating what lineups Schneider puts out every night because that's the plan and they're not deviating from it.

Unlike NBA where you can possibly get roughly equal value for star players, MLB any trade of Vlad or Bo will more than likely be losing trades (for prospects that turn into lesser players) unless we fully commit to a rebuild and sell everything
