Here is the Jays roster for Spring Breakout, the new prospect showcase. The Jays game is against the Yankees prospects a week Saturday. This showcase features guys at all levels of each of the 30 systems, so Arjun Nimmala, Emanuel Bonilla and Brand Barriera are on the roster as well as the guys at AA, AAA, etc Ricky Tiedemann is being held out, presumably so as to preserve his innings for Grapefruit League games and because this is likely to be one inning per pitcher, so no point. Same reason, I suppose, why Chad Dallas is not on the list.

Jim Callis of MLB Pipeline visits Dunedin and talks about the Jays top 6 starter prospects, three downstreamers who can help soon (Tiedemann, Van Eyk and Macko) and three upstreamers with longer timelines (Rojas, Maraudis and Barriera) and a small commentary on Emanuel Bonilla.

Zulueta had more than enough chances to find the strike zone. Now 26, he might benefit from a change of scenery more than another season at Buffalo.

Buffalo lost its home opener 12-9, but Ricky Tiedemann had a decent 2.2 innings of work after surrendering a leadoff homer - his only run given up. His velocity peaked at 97, but mostly ranged between 93-95. When he exceeded 96, he tended to be out of the zone, so some work to be done there.

The Buffalo bats were lively and almost all of Scranton's runs were yielded by non-prospect relievers.

How can you be certain Zulueta is done as a prospect, when he was ranked as high as 3rd of our system last year?

In any case, the process is bad. Atkins easily could have protected him, but kept low ceiling org filler players like Parsons for a few weeks of mop up duty.

Yea I would've kept Zulueta in the system this year as well. Last year was his first full season back from surgery. I would've at least seen what he was able to do for some of this season before cutting bait. Especially compared to keeping low ceiling players instead that you can find easily.

Nice win by Buffalo today. Yariel Rodriguez with four no-hit innings, a walk and 6K. Was untouchable. Buffalo won 2-0 in 10, with solid relief pitching as well including Hagen Danner striking out the side in the 10th. Addison Barger doubled in the lead run in the 10th.

Wow - the farm is off to a more abysmal start than the big club. Almost a decade into Shatkins regime and the cupboards are still bare. Wasn't that supposed to be a strength of these guys?

Keep tabs on Nimmala. Putting him in low A Dunedin was an aggressive move for his age and he’s off to a strong start. Two more singles yesterday. He might be special.

Update - his first homer today.

Memo to the ML Jays, the young Bison infielders are off to a hot start. Orelvis 3-5 today with a double. Barger 2-3 with a homer, single, two walks and three RBIs. Yariel Rodriguez still hasn't given up a run although his outing wasn't as pristine as his first. Still, if I were Bowden Francis, I wouldn't;t take a long0term lease on an apartment in Toronto. And if Genesis Cabrera doesn't;t shape up, Mason Fluharty, the Jays 5th round pick in 2022 is showing no fear about his rapid ascent in the system. He is yet to give up a hit or run in three appearances - seven K's over 5 innings.

As for New Hampshire, Josh Kasevich was 4-5 with a double today, and continues his hot start. Not a lot of power, which has always been the rap against him, but he plays a premium position where power is a bonus.

Unfortunately the bat is ahead of the glove. 5 errors in 10 games playing 2B full-time.

The four Blue Jays farm teams in action this month scored 49 runs today and all four are now above .500
