Twitter/Reddit will still find ways to complain about the offense lol

1st in the majors in batting average.
2nd in wRC+.
5th in runs scored.
5th-best K rate.
6th-most clutch (by Fangraph's WPA metric).
6th in wRC+ with RISP.
After some early-season struggles, averaging over 5 runs/game from June 1st on.

Some of the narratives surrounding our offense this year are beyond idiotic. The only real complaint is that this team should probably be hitting more home runs than they are given the amount of beefy thumpers in the lineup, but that's the exact opposite of the criticism the team receives.

Vladdy is really the only hitter on the roster who is slumping this year, and he's still had a good season.

I was SUPER concerned but Stripling bounced back these last 2 starts thankfully that start against who was it, it was that crazy 18-11 game. I was concerned/worried.

the commentators haven't mentioned anything but i don't see htem sending him back out. They pulled big fella after 6yesterday and they already keep Stripling on a tight leash. Bass was warming up

The prevailing argument seems to be that Berrios has been good his whole career so we should just disregard this season. Because that's how playoff roster decisions should be made, apparently.

And honestly, the fact that too-many-grounders Vlad is still a top 30 hitter in baseball is something of a plus. Obviously, I prefer Destroyer of Worlds Vlad, but the fact that he's still an upper-echelon hitter even when he can't get his timing down should give us a lot of confidence in trying to retain him long-term.

Stripling's career ERA is significantly better than Berrios', heh. One of the reasons I was strongly against the Berrios trade is that he had this weird reputation as an ace, but in reality (pre-implosion) he was always just a solid mid-rotation workhorse who happened to be the best pitcher on his team.

Otto getting his 1st career hit on his birthday is neat. I like things that are neat.

He now leads all Ottos from 1984 on in hits.

Every team needs a punching-bag esque opponent like this. Wonderful boost of self-esteem and confidence

Jansen 15 dingers and an OPS of .872 in 200 ABs.

!!

The power some of us dreamed on has manifested this year.

Also, not that it matters much, but he's up to 42 RBIs as well. That's remarkable considering his playing time and where he's been hitting in the order.

It feels like we've scored half our runs this year against the Red Sox.

Our expected winning percentage against the Red Sox this year is .840. Over a full season, that would be a record of 136-26.

Utter demolition.

I never understood this argument from some in the media who continue to make it, like Mike Shillner. Berrios has been one of the Worst Starters in the AL along with Kikuchi. Berrios should be on the bench with Kikuchi cheerleading with a Towel. I do not want him to Start another Game all year. Our 3 Starters in the Wild Card Round have to be Manoah, Gausman, and Stripling.

unpopular opinion: if Jansen never got hurt at all in the last 2-3 years, he would be the team's starting catcher.

Even though Kirk has blossomed in his role, Jansen would still project to be the team's "now" catcher. and Kirk traded possibly at his highest value.

and then we would be lamenting Kirk's rise on the team he got traded to..
raf1995 wrote:I just don’t think he has that kind of potential. I think we will regret not trading him for a haul in a few years when he’s a mid-tier starter with nice playmaking and defense and a shaky jumper.
