I doubt he'll be in MLB much longer if he keeps pitching like this anyway.

I hope Pearson is ready soon so this Richards scrub will be gone.

Pearson looked sketchy in spring at times. Not ready yet

Sucks we had to even use Yimi this game since we have Bassitt, Berrios and Kikuchi next series but was necessary and he did a great clean up job.

That strike out to Bo was because the ump called two outside pitches strikes.

That was a wack at-bat in terms of ump calls

Atkins has got to pick up another Lefty bullpen arm and someone to replace Richards.. many of the bullpen arms are < 1.0 WAR pitchers and some even negative WAR like Richards.

2 shutout innings, 4 K's so far. Buffalo has only played 3 games because of rainouts.

Missed most of this one but nice series aside from that first game.

starting pitching has been the story so far. 3 quality starts in a row.

now if we can just hope Berrios recovers on his second start. he's great one innning, terrible the next.

Richards is awful and so is Belt. If you plan to be a contender you can't have these types of players on your roster.

You absolutely can. MLB rosters are big. Every roster will have a few scrubs. You'd need a $400 million payroll to have a good player in every single spot.

Zero earned runs, and a loss.

Was so disappointing to see that 0-1 0.00ERA statline at the start of the game.

Wins and losses don't matter too much for cy young these days. ERA, batting average, whip

Yup, absolutely. It's just a weird statline to see - he did everything right, and still came home with an L.

And Richards appears to be our blowout guy (and he should be), which is the place most likely to feature a scrub. His two appearances have come in the 4th with a six-run deficit, and in the 9th with a six-run lead. There's a finite amount of damage you can do in those spots before getting yoinked...he entered with the Royals having a 2.1% chance to win, and exited with it at 7.8%.

If Buffalo ever gets a chance to play a game - postponed three days in a row - I'd watch Bowden Francis who throws harder than Richards and started last weekend, so is stretched out for longer garbage runs. Mitch White is an obvious replacement as well, when healthy, and later in the year Chad Green might become an option if his TJ recovery is on track.

As for Belt, I'd give him a lot more run, but if he is done, they could use Biggio as the backup 1B and just DFA Belt and promote Otto Lopez. But that's looking ahead several weeks.
