Varsho was getting hot,and consistent batting 7th.I think he is a guy that needs to bat in the same slot most of the time.

Manoah figured something out like Kickuchi, and Berrios. The clock made him forget that he has to go in a downhill motion to home plate.Manoah was good at beating the East opponents before, but Gausman should be the number 1 starter. Not sure where Manoah should slot right now.

Division not in reach really but we have a solid shot at 2nd in the East. Everyone but Tampa has had some mediocre stretches. I hope the seller talk is out the window.

Varsho hit 7th today. He also has hit 7th in several other games over the past few weeks where he has been awful at the plate. Time in and time out he cannot lay off the high fastballs to save himself. Absolutely terrible at the plate this year, except for a few good games in a row once a while. If he cannot turn it around the rest of the year at the plate, there would be no way you automatically guarantee him a CF or LF spot in 2024. I would be inclined to target a much better hitter in those spots in the off-season, whose defense might be decent enough to replace Varsho as an everyday player. I would be willing to cut my losses with him, if he continues to hit the rest of the way like he has the last 3 months.

Baltimore is 3 back in the division at this point. I think it’s in reach.

There's 70+ games left in the season. It won't be easy to anybody to overcome the start that Tampa had, but it's absolutely still within the realm of possibility.

Heck, we have six games late season against Tampa. As long as we can close the gap between now and the final stretch, we can still control our destiny.

The Jays, in theory, could actually start playing good baseball at some point this season too instead of everyone other than Bichette/Gausman sort of muddling along. That would certainly help achieve that goal.

Would be great if we can play like a decent team against the East. It hurts us double to be dropping every game against Baltimore and Tampa

First y’all said he was rushed and now detroits not a real team lol. Some can’t admit they were wrong and spent most of their time kicking the kid while he was down.

I won't get more optimistic until we start winning series against AL East teams

Well you will need to wait a long time then to feel good or bad about the team. They barely play any AL East teams over the next 70 days -- 52 of the next 62 Jays games are against non AL East opponents, including the next 17 in a row. The Jays will likely define themselves over the next few months (good or bad) against non AL East teams.

The fact that only 52 interdivision games are played instead of 76 makes a big difference.

Of course their playoff aspirations may well be determined by their last 15 games of the season all in the AL East.

Dont forget the Red Sox. That 0-7 record against them pretty much sealed our fate this season.

Over dramatic much? How did those 7 games seal our fate for the season? The Jays are in a Wild Card Position right now, and have a decent chance of making the playoffs which are still somewhat of a crapshoot.

Sure it would have been nice to win at least 3 of those games, and be on pace for 94 wins. But it didn't seal anything either.

Biggio batting 5 is an embarrassment.

Gausman having one of his bad splitter days. Usually this leads to blowouts against.

i still wanna believe because if he gets consistent,we will be a nasty team to play against with him 7th...12 hr 30 rbi...not great, but only 1 hr behind Vlad, and we are better recordwise than last year.Weird season of baseball for us,and other teams, like Stl.

Getting no hit through half the game. Not a surprise against a lineup with Biggio batting 5.

This constant messing with the lineup is going to be our downfall.Belt batting 2nd.Blair is gonna **** after the game.We got lucky scoring that many yesterday, but why go so far away from that lineup :banghead:

Springer isn't on the roster. Everyone had to move up a spot (and in Biggio's case, 3-4 spots for some reason).
