I do not expect Schneider to keep up this pace, but it merits a question why this organization could not call up Schneider much sooner given the terrible production from both Biggio and Espinal all year.

Schneider wasn't rated as a significant prospect prior to this year. Honestly, he was very Biggio-esque: took a lot of walks, struck out a fair bit, had some pop but nothing otherworldly, could cover multiple positions but wasn't particularly good defensively. A likely fringe utility guy who didn't even move beyond A ball until he was 23. And then he suddenly improved his K rate sharply while hitting for much more power and still taking a tonne of walks. Hard to blame them for not anticipating that he'd transform from Right-Handed Biggio into Right-Handed Barry Bonds.

It's like Mountcastle's bat was chipped off, and no one noticed.

A Jay found it, held on to it, and then handed it to Schinder, and he picked off right where Mountcastle left off.

Let's split the difference, just to be reasonable. He's a right-handed Paul Molitor.

Some comp Schneider to Dustin Pedroia, they're about the same size, play the same position, but if I were guessing, I'd say he won't be as high an average guy as peak Pedroia (RoY through his first five seasons give or take) but will show with a good line with better power than that Pedroia. If he turns in the same numbers as he did this season at Buffalo - .275 with 21 homers, 64 RBIs by August 1 - that's a fantastic outcome for a 28th round pick.

Whoever kidnapped our Toronto Blue Jays and replaced them with this group of new ballplayers can keep the old guys.

If Schneider’s bat goes cold, he can always go back to his old job as a mall cop in North Dakota.

So found out some interesting facts about Coaker Triplett - the only other player to make 9 hits in his first three games.

Did not get another hit in the rest of the 1938 season, and spent the next two years in the minors.

After playing 5 seasons (1941-1945) in the NL, he went back to AAA playing five seasons for... the Buffalo Bisons.

We somehow didn’t gain any ground in the WC race this weekend even with this sweep. Damn the Mariners.

We gained one on the Astros. And now we have less teams nipping at our heels. I'll take that.

Astros are almost certainly gonna finish ahead of us with all their talent (and the fact they have the As in division) but it’s true that there is a benefit to at least getting rid of Boston/LA.

The Angels further depleted their farm system at the deadline, only to win 2 games of their last 10, and fall below .500. Not only will they lose Ohtani for nothing in the off-season, but traded away prospects for rentals to be worse off. It will be a tough next 2-3 years for Angels fans when Ohtani leaves. Angels were terrible during the 4 Game home sweep by the Mariners.

I haven't been able to follow the team as closely this year, but Davis Schneider has come out of nowhere for me. I'd never even heard of his name until he was called up. Looking at his AAA stat line this year it's pretty damn impressive. He's energized the team - and the fan base - in a big way. Espinal is definitely looking over his shoulder right now.
Nick Nurse recounting his first meeting with Kawhi:
“We could have gone forever. (Raptors management) kept knocking on the door and I was like, ‘A couple more minutes.’ Because we were really into it."

Similar body type but Pedroia was drafted second round, huge gap as prospect wise. If Schneider can stay in the lineup, it's a plus over Biggio, Espinal and push varsho as a utility player as he should be. No everyday player skips against LH pitcher and get pinch hit in key spots
