On second viewing, that sunset shot, doesn't look like Toronto, considering it was over-cast, and such.

Assuming it's true, have to think there is more to come. We need at least two of: a left fielder, a third baseman, and a second baseman (assuming Schneider will fill one of those three, and we want Biggio as super utility rather than full time at a spot).

It would be silly not to sign a player while we have "star" (supposedly) guys still on arbitration level contracts.

I'd be cool entering the season with none of those positions filled if we land Ohtani. We can fill them all internally for all I care. Schneider, Biggio, Martinez, whatever. Let those guys develop. Next year will be just the beginning. Shite gets real the following season when Ohtani is pitching again.

They likely would have been gone regardless. Bichette wants to test free agency from the looks of it, and Vlad seems open to an extension but isn't worth giving one to yet. If (and it's still an IF until it becomes official) Ohtani is signed, then it probably makes moving on from Vlad/Bo a lot easier, especially if the team has to trade one of them at some point.
