What is an acceptable record after the first 10 games?

As you guys know, we have a pretty brutal schedule to start the season. 10 games on the road, 4 of them at the trop against the always pesky Rays. 3 against the arguably best AL team in the Astros and then 3 against a much improved Yankees team whos lineup could potentially feature TWO 50+ HR hitters. And to top it all off we play 7 GAMES IN A ROW without a rest day.

Just listening to Blair and Barker right now as i type this and Blair is perfectly ok with the Jays coming home with a 5-5 record while Barker is adamant that 6-4 at MINIMUM is acceptable given how much importance everyone in the clubhouse puts on these first 10 games and "starting out hot" and "showing we are different" etc etc.

What do you guys think? Personally 5-5 would be pretty meh to me. Im with Barker on this one, that these guys, especially the offense have a lot to prove, and if they really want to do it, they need to show it at the plate and win the majority of these games against ELITE competition. To me 6-4 would be the acceptable outcome with 7-3 being ideal. Anything less than 5-5 would be a MAJOR letdown.

It's a 162 game season, and the first 10 games count the exact same as the next 152.

I'd love to win them all. But regardless of our record at the end of these 10, there's no need to panic. Losing streaks, and 2-8s happen to just about every team, and it makes no difference if that's the first 10 games, the last 10 games or somewhere in the middle.

It's a long season. I care more about how we're playing than any particular stretch of 10 games.

Given the arm problems (Gausman missing first 10 games and the bullpen) and Kooch being Kooch again, I expect 4-6 at best

All road games against arguably the 3 best teams in the AL? I’d honestly take 4-6

I'm curious, has any other team ever been forced to play 7 games in a row? It's wild to me that the Jays weren't given a single off day between series to start the season.

Last year we had 9 games in a row between April 1st and April 9th. We then had one off-day, and played 9 in a row at home.

A month later we had 17 games in a row with no off-days.

Huh?

The Yankees, Red Sox and Rays are all in the same boat. And presumably many other teams.

Let down: 3-7 or worse
Acceptable: 4-6
Good: 5-5
Great: anything above 5-5

To me 4-6 is satisfactory. Of course want to do better... but the key to the tough start is to not put yourself in a whole that is hard to dig out of.

Going 5-5 would be fairly good. 6 or more would be really nice.

12-0

God Kikuchi being so dominant the MLB gave us two extra wins.
