That is what I remembered you say, and thanks for confirming that my facts were fine as usual.

I don’t know how many more ways I could have called that trade a salary dump and didn’t even mention Swanson. It’s pretty clear I didn’t like the move at all in a vacuum and was trying to explain it as a costs saving maneuver more than anything else.

It might not be in the trade thread, but last year you mentioned it was a good move to get rid of Teoscar for a guy like Swanson, who had control in years and was going to be a high leverage guy for this team alongside Romano. However, the part I did not remember is you talking about salary constraints like the JP days (since Rogers increased payroll in each of last two years). So, maybe you were trying to rationalize the trade in terms of cost savings for ownership at that time. If that was the case, you are not wrong since the team saved 14 million, which was a huge chunk of cash.

Funny, because I distinctly remember saying how much I disliked the trade on multiple occasions and was asking the Jays to bring him back as a free agent about halfway through the year to infuse some power back on the roster.

The Jays also apparently did try to do that this offseason (after trying to trade for him at the deadline) so perhaps they too had misgivings about getting rid of him.

Look at my posts from last summer, and in the beginning of the off-season and I was the main proponent of bringing back Teoscar as a DH, and occasional RF. You did say that you were fine with the idea, so I cannot take that from you.

Can you clowns take this crap to PM's? People don't want to scroll through an entire page of two people arguing back and forth and quoting their quote of a quote of a quote of a quote to get to the actual game comments.

Why did the manager not walk one of the hottest hitters in baseball with 2 on and a base open

My goodness this offense. The lone hit through 6 innings - a measly single.

Springer and Bo with yet another game with no hits. How long before this organization makes some serious changes? This offense is so painful to watch.

Schneider already said multiple times that the Top 3 are set in stone and he has no intention of ever changing it because he believes these guys (Springer, Guerrero and Bichette) are too good of hitters to struggle like this for long.

Was really hoping Barger would inject some life into this offense much like Davis did when he was called up last year. But man, dude has been a HUGE disappointment. I know its a tiny sample size, but for someone who was destroying AAA pitching i was hoping for a bit better than 1 hit in 20 ABs and not much of anything else.

Can we trade for Tyler Black? He had two hits yesterday, that's almost our entire team total. Hell, id take Rod Black over these guys.

1 run on 4 hits yesterday. 1 run on 3 hits today. This isnt acceptable on any level. If not for the pitching, this team would be 10-20 right now.

The Good Ship Blue Jay - thar she blows!
Nick Nurse recounting his first meeting with Kawhi:

You are not going to win many games when the bottom five hitters go 1 for 16 like they did today. Everyone got excited for Varsho after his one hot week in April two weeks ago (similar to April 2023), and now he is back to being the underwhelming .226 hitter he typically is (1 for his last 17). Barger needs to be sent back to Buffalo, since he just is not ready for big league pitching right now. Ignoring the bottom of the order, with any decent production from even Vlad, Kirk, Bichette, and Springer- this team would have won 4 to 5 more games by now and be sitting at 20-12, or 19-13.

Realistically, this team is what it is. In the division they play in, they are probably 4th or 5th best. I agree with another poster on here, who says a Rebuild might be necessary. I am all for that if come July, this team does not turn it around. If you are going to be below .500, you do not have to be spending a Luxury Tax Payroll of 247 million (like they are doing right now), and have the 7th or 8th highest payroll in MLB.

Until July. If this team is out of it, nobody should be untouchable. However, promote James Click and let him make the decisions and get rid of Atkins. 9 Years as GM was more than enough time for him to get at least one playoff win (which he failed to do). Guys like Garcia, Romano, Berrios, Gausman, Bassitt can still bring back attractive pieces for the long-term.

Turner has been your best hitter this year. Why was he on the bench with an off day tomorrow?
