Zach Britton vs. Jason Marquis in the first game. Nats have won 6 in a row and have won 7 out of their last 10 games.

Orioles have struggled a bit, but are still hovering close to .500. Britton is an early ROY of the candidate in the AL, 6-4 with a 3.18 ERA.

John Wall will be throwing out the first pitch tonight.

It always feels wrong to root for the Nats, but I can't really be a fan of the O's until Angelos is gone. John Wall just tweeted about going to the game. I hope he doesn't embarass himself. I would like to see him actually try to make the pitch though

The last thing I want him to do is blow his arm out so if he doesn't even reach home plate, I'm fine with that.

I grew up an Orioles fan, so my allegiance is a bit...off for this series. I want both teams to do well, and I really don't know who I want to win this series.

Dang - that was an odd game. If I were the Os, I'd wonder how I lost after having a billion base hits.

8 in a row or we don't go! Nats win 4-2, Morse with a homer, Zimmerman with a homer as well, and some solid pitching from Jordan Zimmerman. Nats are now 35-36, and are 4.5 games back from the Braves in the wild card race.

Great crowds the last two days as well, 35K+ for the beltway series.

Raf, your signature made perfect sense in context and now you're just quoting it all over the place like I'm all about no pants, whatever the occasion.

More than anything else the progress the Nationals have made serves, to me, to emphasize how terribly the team was run by the owners collectively when the team was in Montreal. The first year the team was here we held out hope that Kory Casto would get his act together and that Vinny Castilla wouldn't be the worst signing imaginable.

The team may not be run flawlessly now but the difference is night and day. It does prompt pangs for fans of the Expos, however, it's hard to blame a fanbase for giving up in the face of that.

This is really fun. With the defense, it appears another corner has been turned.

Next year this team is a very solid playoff contender--and even with Werth there is some money to spend.

I never though I would see an 8 game winning streak by the Nats this year. I'm very happy that it is happening and I hope that we are able to find quality in the middle of the 1st round of the draft the next few years.

Dude, it's my sig and it was by far the funniest thing I had read on the Wizards board in months. I literally spilled Pepsi over my keyboard when I read that. If you want me to take it down, let me know...it was just hilarious...downright hilarious.

If you didn't think Ryan Zimmerman was valuable, just look at what we've done since he cam eback from the DL. Our lineup is legit and complete. I always compare the Nats and Orioles in terms of their development and as of now I think the Nats are ahead of the Orioles when it comes to contention. The division plays a part in it, but also the drafting, the Nats are aggressive and are able to pluck guys in the draft who have been deemed with "signability" issues. Also having the top pick in back to back years helped a lot as well. They just seem to be well ahead of the Orioles at this point.

Jayson Werthless. He is not playing bad but he is not worth the money. Bernadina and Harper are our future staples in the outfield. Werth's production can be had at a much lesser cost.

I'm convinced he has compromising photos of Mike Rizzo and Jim Riggleman. He should be cut soon though, he's probably going to DH in AL ball parks and if he doesn't show anything he's probably done for. It's a waste of a roster spot at this point.

And I agree with Werth. He's only making $10 million this year, but I think $16 mil starting next year. That money would have been better to spread around and get a middle reliever and maybe another outfielder but that's just me.
