No disagreement there. I hated that trade when it happened and I hate it even more now. Thor and TDA have both turned into studs while Dickey was never more than a fifth starter for us (an outcome that could have been seen from a mile away).

With that said, AA probably would have traded him in another deal if it wasn't for Dickey. He was making a big push that off-season and was hell-bent on emptying out the farm. He just emptied it for the wrong player.

Other than that, all his moves as GM have been fantastic. He basically got the league MVP and ROY for free.

I didn't like it at the time (not so much because of the prospects we gave up, but because it really depleted our system). I'm indifferent to it now. Price is the only reason we made the playoffs (our ace before the trade was Marco Estrada). I just hope we don't re-sign him.

World Series predictions?

I'm going with Royals in 6, though I think the Mets just might be this year's team of destiny.

So Volquez's father died today.

There are conflicting reports about whether or not Volquez knows.

Crashed before the game ended. Glad to see the Royals pulled it out.

Cueto vs. Degrom tonight...should be a great matchup. Cueto pitched much better in his last playoff game, lets hope he keeps it up. Degrom has been a beast.

Blue Jays effectively fire Anthopoulos and seem to favour a rebuild (despite just firing one of the best scouting GMs in the league). See you guys in 22 years.

**** Rogers. There is no way to escape the misery if you are a sports fan in this city (because they own every professional sports team).

Rogers told Shapiro he would get final say on all baseball moves when they hired him. It was essentially constructive dismissal since there was no way AA would accept those terms.

Yeah forgot about that, but he was really good at home vs. Houston in the previous start. He seems to be a lot better at home in the playoffs.

Mets may have the better starting pitching but the Royals are better everywhere else. I still think the Mets win at least 2/3 at home though, but sticking with my Royals in 6 prediction.

In other news, Nats hired Bud Black as Manager. Seems like a good fit. Energetic, good communicator, knows pitching, basically everything Matt Williams wasn't. I don't care too much about his win/loss record in San Diego, he didn't really have talent there, and remember Joe Torre had a losing record before the Yankees hired him too.

Has a team ever avoided playing their three best opponents as the Royals are doing(Cardinals, Pirates, Cubs)? Has it ever happened in any sport?
