Because of 8 games of Kershaw's career (6 since he was 21) out of 217 for his career? Talk about overreacting to a small sample size.

If every game (regular/post) were the same, yes. But they're not. I'm not trying to diminish what Kershaw has done because he's incredible. But if you want to talk all-time greatness (in any sport), the post-season matters, yes very disproportionately to the number of games played. When you think about the greats: Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, Wayne Gretzky, Joe Montana, Mariano Rivera, Babe Ruth, Willie Mays, what do you think about? PLAYOFFS.

Let me clarify, I am not saying playoffs don't matter. They absolutely do, and obviously more than the regular season. In addition, I don't want to take anything away from Bumgarner, the guy is a monster. I just see people horribly overreacting to a small sample size with Kershaw in the playoffs. The guy is the best pitcher on the planet, no questions, he has unfortunately had some bad luck in the playoffs (I will be the first to admit he has choked), but I don't expect it to be a regular thing. He will be back, and I expect the law of averages to win out.

Interesting considering out of the 6 games that Kershaw has pitched in the playoffs since turning 21, 3 of them were lights out. Do some of those lights make him piss his pants while others don't? Or maybe a statistical aberration? I am going with #2.

Or maybe those games came against braves, only team that is as bad at hitting as kershaw at pitching. might as well dominate rockford peaches.

Why focus on the Shredder?

Let's focus on Brian Kenny.

Can we not instead?

I can't even believe this is actually a poll, let alone the results. 19 of you are going to feel quite silly come this fall when one of these guys is gearing up for the postseason and the other is fighting to keep his ERA under 4.

Giants pitching fell apart last year, I have no idea how MadBum won that championship for us. It was unbelievable, after that I could never take Kershaw over him.

I suppose another stat you can give Bumgarner in this argument is his hitting.

This Year:
.243avg .273obp 4hr 7rbi

Last Year:
.245avg .286obp 4hr 15rbi
