The top 3 NL OF vote getters are actually your preferred starters?

More fun, I'm just going to list the 4 best players in the entire MLB at each position this season, if you don't make this list you likely don't really belong as an all-star.

Catcher
Joe Mauer
Russell Martin
Brian McCann
Geo Soto

First Base
Albert Pujols
Lance Berkman
Adrian Gonzalez
Kevin Youkilis

Second Base
Chase Utley
Dan Uggla
Ian Kinsler
Brian Roberts

Shortstop
Jose Reyes
Hanley Ramirez
Rafael Furcal
Tejeda, Rollins, or Escobar

Third Base
Chipper Jones
Alex Rodriguez
Aramis Ramirez
David Wright

Left Field
Jason Bay
Pat Burrell
Matt Holliday
Ryan Braun

Center Field
Nate McLouth
Carlos Beltran
Grady Sizemore
Upton or Hamilton (both are arguably more valuable than any corner outfielder)

Right Field
Ryan Ludwick
Brian Giles
JD Drew
Nick Markakis

Man without a position, Milton Bradley.

And I don't feel like doing pitchers so screw it.

Can we not consider Manny a 12-time All-Star until he actually is present at 12 All-Star games?

Not sure what the issue you have is, oh yeah I got, he's a Red Sox player. Odd if your hurt normally you don't play in the All-Star game.

Ya got me.

Still, even when players are hurt and know they won't get on the field, they usually do the fans a solid and show up (even if its just for the Derby or something).

Alright I've made some updates to the rosters.

For the AL

Jason Varitek is out at catcher due to Joe Mauer taking over with the voting.

Replacing Jason Varitek is Dioner Navarro of the Tampa Bay Rays.

Hideki Matsui has gone to the DL, so replacing Matsui is Johnny Damon of the New York Yankees.

Replacing BJ Upton is Jermaine Dye of the Chicago White Sox.

For the NL

Replacing Tim Hudson is Jon Rauch of the Washington Nationals

Replacing Christian Guzman is Jose Reyes of the New York Mets

Replacing Garrett Atkins is Jason Bay of the Pittsburgh Pirates

Replacing Xavier Nady is Pat Burrell of the Philadelphia Phillies.

More updates to come I'm sure.

Post your rosters guys.

BJ Upton has great range in center field, which is a lot more important of a defensive position. Dye has crap range in right. Upton has a slightly higher EQA, Dye a slightly higher GPA. I'm willing to call them equal hitters, but then again Dye plays in a hitters park and Upton doesn't. Upton also has about 30 more PA. I don't see why/how you would switch Dye in for him.

Yeah, I guess. But it's not like it would be a travesty if Dye makes it over Upton and no offense but I doubt the voters and/or the managers take those stats into account when selecting the teams.

Yeah, it's not a travesty or anything.

I would switch Polanco off the team for Magglio.

No need for 4 2B and Maggs deserves it more.

Why DeJesus over Upton?

Also just noticed you don't have Beltran and Giles on the NL team.

Theres no way D Lee, Dunn, Nady, Braun, or Aramis are better than either this year.

Just my "conctructive" criticisms of your selections. Other than that, looks good. But didn't go through pitchers again, too lazy.

Carlos Beltran?
.271, 12hr, and 54rbi?
Brian Giles?
.304, 5, and 29?

ARAM
.289, 14, and 55
DLee
. 293, 15, and 51
Braun
.287, 20, and 58
Dunn
.221, 20, and 48 (OBP .388)
Nady
.315, 10, and 49

Am I missing something?

The only guy I see making sense there is Dunn not being more deserving than the two, but then again he doesn't get **** to hit.

I think your looking at the wrong stats to judge a player.

Also, defense matters, both Beltran and Giles are very good defensive players for their position.

Braun, Dunn, and Nady aren't good at defense (especially Dunn). D Lee plays first base, not much defensive value there. If D Lee makes the team, there is something seriously wrong, he's not even better than Yunel Escobar.

Player......EQA
Giles........309
Beltran.....302
Dunn........311
Lee..........288
Aramis......300
Nady........321 (less than 300 PA though)
Braun.......294

If the all star game was chosen on defense then it would be one boring game.

Whats the most popular segment on Baseball Tonight?

So you think good defense equals boring games? No wonder why your a Brewer fan. /cheapshot

And what does a boring game have to do with the players who deserve to go to the all-star game?
