You really have to wonder if Gammo is publically articulating the feelings of the Red Sox FO... after all, he's done it before.

The latest version of this rumor has it as a three-way where Jason Bay goes to the Red Sox. Please God, no.

****. That is a great trade for the Red Sox. Bay had a down year last year, but he is a great hitter for his career.

If people didn't come to watch Manny in Florida then it's time to relocate that team.

yup, hes lost it:

"The Red Sox don't deserve a player like me," Ramirez said. "During my years here I've seen how they [the Red Sox] have mistreated other great players when they didn't want them to try to turn the fans against them.

"The Red Sox did the same with guys like Nomar Garciaparra and Pedro Martinez, and now they do the same with me. Their goal is to paint me as the bad guy," Ramirez added. "I love Boston fans, but the Red Sox don't deserve me. I'm not talking about money. Mental peace has no price and I don't have peace here."

Yeah, it isn't like they were deadon when getting rid of Pedro and Nomar, Manny :x

Jayson Stark says the Red Sox are trying to get Stanton, Ryan Tucker, and one of Willingham/Hermida for Ramirez.

If the Red Sox pull that off that would be amazing. Tucker has a power arm. Stanton is one of the best power hitting prospects in the minors. Willingham is a .850 OPS guy and Hermida has the potential to be yearly .900 OPS guy.

I'd still like to see them somehow finesse Matt Holiday away from the Rockies, it would probably take a top prospect plus Manny. Worth it in my opinion.

They'd be better off getting Bay. Bay is two years older, but Holliday's home-road splits are so out of whack I see him being Bay's equal at best when taken out of Coors, even playing in Fenway. Not to mention that the Rockies have apparently been asking the world for Holliday.

now we're talking. Bay, Jack Wilson and Grabow coming to Boston. and we have enough mid-level prospects to fill out this deal and not be too hurt.

8:29pm: Here's the latest. MLB.com says we're moving closer to the three-team deal. The Pirates could receive a minor leaguer from the Red Sox. Dejan Kovacevic says the Pirates would receive four or more prospects for Bay, as well as Hermida. John Grabow could end up in Boston or Florida. Perrotto says it could be expanded to have Jed Lowrie go to Pittsburgh and Jack Wilson to Boston. The Bucs also like Red Sox prospect Hunter Jones

I knew it had to be a player like bay or holliday in a 3 way. When I heard manny to the marlins for prospects, I just couldn't imagine a deal like that.

I love bay. Would love to see him in boston. Rumors will run rampant after this game.

Manny probably just had his last at bat with the red sox.

8:50pm: Will Carroll believes the Commissioner's Office has been informed of a Red Sox-Pirates-Marlins trade even though the teams haven't agreed on the prospects. Here's how he sees it:

Marlins get Manny Ramirez, one prospect (BOS), and cash (likely Ramirez’s remaining salary)
Pirates get Jeremy Hermida and three prospects (two FLO, one BOS)
Red Sox get Jason Bay and John Grabow

He's an average pitcher for the Pirates. Not happy Jeremy Hermida coming into the NL Central after he just owned the Cubs this weekend.

Wow you could make a case that all three teams got a good deal out of this trade.

Ugh. Bay is a good haul for the Sox if that's what it is. They won't really lose a step offensively. And Grabow isn't a world beater but could probably help their pen; at the very least, he's a good excuse to finally dump Mike Timlin.

I heard the White Sox were interested in grabbing Timlin. Maybe this opens up that trade.

This deal was made pretty damn early compared to when he dealt nomar. Surprised theo committed so fast. He must really like bay.

Miss ya manny.

It should be noted that Carroll's big specialty is injury reporting and he doesn't have an amazing track record as a trade rumor guy. I still trust him more than someone like Ken Rosenthal, though.
