The point is their chances of winning this year suck. The A-type picks help the franchise, but still.

The Marlins are in it. They've outperformed their whatever by quite a bit, but that's in the past. That they've outperformed to this point doesn't mean that they're going to suddenly start underperforming the rest of the way. And by bolstering the team with Manny they're ensuring that they keep performing at the same level.

Of course, they probably still aren't good enough to go anywhere in the playoffs, but yeah. That pitching staff is just brutal for a potential playoff team.

i'll be shocked if the BOSOX deal Manny. He's been their modern day equivelent to The Bambino since they signed him. They got 2 WS titles out of him and he's **CLUTCH** in the post season.

The idea they would trade this guy for Jason Bay who has never played in the post season is insane.

Break up the Ramirez/Ortiz duo? I don't think young Epstein is that foolish.

It's one thign to loose Manny in Free Agency but trading him is a "NO NO Nanette" move.

ESPN's Peter Gammons says the three-way negotiations between the Red Sox, Marlins and Pirates are close to dead.

Greedy **** marlins and pirates.

Try and deal him for kemp now I guess.

Odds are he stays, I can't believe it. This is 2006 trade deadline all over again. We won't deal manny, while we are making no improvements. Damn.

If he doesn't do it now then he'll do it in December when he declines Manny's option.
