The Cubs are in talks with the Texas Rangers for Milton Bradley.

Are you guys serious enough about pitching to be willing to give up a Michael Young or a Milton Bradley?

Uh...a trade has actually happened already: Arthur Rhodes to the Marlins for minor-leaguer Gaby Hernandez. Just thought it worth this post.

Manny talks now dead...

Manny 3 way is completely dead. According to many sources.

Sean McCaddam thinks that a trade involving manny is unlikely to get done.

Un-freakin-believable.

Jays are apparently targeting Raul Ibanez, either because JP Ricciardi is delusional (likelihood: 98%), or because he's trying to pilfer the comp picks when Ibanez becomes a free agent (likelihood that JP is aware that Ibanez is on the verge of free agency: incalculable).

I can't see how the Sox could possibly want to hold onto Manny after everything that's happened over the past few days. You can't have a guy saying that his team doesn't "deserve" to have him and then not trade him. At this point they MUST trade him, IMO.

Ibanez, Vidro and a low-level prospect for starting pitching, please.

Want Ricky Romero? He's a 23 year old LHSP, just got promoted to AAA, and was a top-6 draft pick.

(Please, don't look up his stats)

*looks up Ricky Romero's stats*

*feels imminent heart attack*

What's the asking price on Burnett and McGowan?

Based on the Washburn demands, expect the M's to ask for Holliday, McGowan, and the Canadian side of Niagra falls.

Compared to Gaby Hernandez, who the Ms just got for Rhodes, Romero probably looks like Cy Young.

I can see why. The Canadian side is much prettier.

Pelekoudas is in a tough spot, he needs to make a major splash and teams know it. They're still in denial in Seattle about the situtaion there. I think they've targeted some guys to move but for some reason some guys like Betancourt, Lopez, Putz, Clement appear to be untouchable. Expect a few more years of rock bottom for the Ms. The real motivation is empty seats and that hasnt really kicked in that much up there yet.

McGowan is down for the year with a frayed labrum, which means that his trade value is undoubtedly toilet-bound. Doubt that the Jays would want to dump him.

Why would you want Burnett? To get him, you'd have to trade prospects whose value at least equate to a round 1s and round 2 pick, because that's his likely off-season return for the Jays if he can knock half a point off his ERA. And since the M's are in no position to compete, those picks would be his only value to them, as well. Don't make much sense, that.

Globe and SI are both reporting the dodgers are talking with the sox. Yes! Theo, please go get matt kemp.

After a Huge deal like that falls through, and the sox are still trying to make a deal, it shows you how bad this relationship with manny has gotten.

So what you're telling me is, Burnett's value = Ibanez's value right now due to free agency, since Ibanez has arguably torn it up and is slated for Type A status.

And the Mariners could use Burnett because, when healthy, he's a No. 3 starter on a team that has a No. 1, a No. 2 and a bunch of No. 5s. The only arm in the whole organization that could crack the top of the Mariners rotation, Philippe Aumont, is three years away.

Yeah seriously... but admittedly the sox were more patient than most teams would be. I think there's a good chance teams will hold the sox for ransom though. Ramirez would easily clear waivers so there's no pressure on teams to to deal with Boston before 4. On the other hand the Sox will get killed in the media if he's still around tomorrow.

There are a couple complicating factors, though. One, Burnett is going to be look for huge money in what is his last prime contract. As such, his market probably consists of premium franchises who can afford to overpay him...in other words, top-15 teams, meaning that the Jays can hope to receive a first rounder, rather than a supplemental round pick. Ibanez is the epitome of a cheap rental at a position that most good teams have long since filled, and has a market limited to the AL, meaning that it's more likely that a garbage team picks him up. Garbage team = worse compensation, which makes it a losing proposition.

There's also the fact that the Jays still believe that they can keep Burnett in the fold, though I really doubt that will happen.

Cant count on Bedard so i would say a #1 and then a cast of thousands. They could move Morrow into the rotation next year and Aumont is probably a year away for a trainwreck like Seattle.
