Here's about as good a place to post this as any...

So Peter King practically wrote a mini-baseball column in MMQB today. I both hate and love when he does this because it always leads to him saying incredibly stupid things:

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2008/w ... ek5/4.html

You're the smart one, Bill Plaschke. You recognize Manny Ramirez quit on a great team once, and he'll do it again. In the first three innings Saturday night, Ramirez scored from first on a hard double to right, then tagged up at first base and went to second on a medium-deep fly to center field. I can guarantee you that in eight years in Boston he didn't do those two things in one season, never mind twice in one three-inning stretch.

I'd love to come up with examples where Manny did do this for the Red Sox, since i'm sure they exist.

I don't even need to comment on how wrong giving Bill Plaschke positive reinforcement is.

well i'm going with my sentiment on this one and saying dodgers in 6.

i'm glad torre and manny are doing well and might make it back to the world series.

it would also be great to have the red sox face the manny/torre dodgers...

Should be a great series with alot of offense. My pick is Phillies in 6. If they Philles have the lead after 8 innings it is over.

I still don't trust Lidge in the playoffs, so I don't think if it's after 8 he's a for sure thing.

As for the series, I like the Dodgers. I think they have a bit more pitching. Plus they have Manny Ramirez who is the best player in this series. LA in 6.

LA looks very strong right now, but I went with Philly to represent the NL at the start of the playoffs, and I'm sticking to what I predicted. I'm looking forward to a great series.

I think this series wholeheartedly depends on whether or not Chase Utley decides to show up. If he does, Phils in 6; if not, Dodgers in 6.

How many runs do you think Philly will score off Lowe?

I got Doyers in 6. They've been riding momentum for over a month now. Too hard to stop this train now. Getting Furcal back was just the icing on the cake.

Great game today. Hamels looked bad early, but finished strong. Lowe looked unhittable early.... served up two home runs. Our hitters still need to get untracked; it feels like we are on borrowed time a bit. Our pitchers are good but not this good.

Nice "Beat LA" chants coming out of the crowd in the 9th. Borrowed that from Boston I'm sure. :P

"Beat LA" and "Detroit Sucks" chants are pretty much nationwide now.

What epically poor, though unintentional timing, by Joe Buck

Joe "Manuel woke up to the news that his mother, June, passed away"
*Chase Utley takes ball four*
*crowd erupts into cheers and applause*

AWK-WARD

Also, let's talk about this start time, eh?

"BEAT LA" is out in force already, and it's only the second inning. :D

Wow, Howard looks utterly helpless against the slider. They have not thrown him a fastball in this series, and all Howard has done is flail at the sliders and miss.

Good hitting by the other guys though.

Ryan Howard looks like a MVP, doesn't he?
