Don't know why you're excited about that. No team is going to give up one of their picks to sign Bob Howry. And if a team does, they're idiots. You'd have been better off he was type B so you still get a pick, but the team signing him doesn't lose a pick.

Willie Randolph to join the Brewers as Macha's bench coach

MILWAUKEE -- The Milwaukee Brewers hired former New York Mets manager Willie Randolph as bench coach on Saturday.

"We are very pleased to add Willie to the organization as he brings recent National League expertise and success to our coaching staff," general manager Doug Melvin said. "His reputation as a player is a quality that will be valuable in his teaching and coaching of our talented young team. Willie is a professional both on and off the field."

Not really sure Milwaukee is the best place for Willie.

Griffy would want to go back to Seattle bc he would prob more than likely want to end his career where it began

I would love to see my red sox get some solid pitching bc that is what we lacked last year. I personally wouldnt mind seeing C.C in a sox uniform. but i dnt think it would happen.

We don't need C.C. And I don't want him.

I believe his agent said we expressed no interest at all.

If C.C. were to end up in Boston you wouldn't even need to play out the season to determine the World Series winner.

it means if you're a type A free agent and the team you're currently on offers arbitration and u get signed by another team, the team you were formerly on gets that teams 1st round pick (if they finished w/the records 16-30) and a supplementary pick between the 1st and 2nd round

if you're type b and are offered arbitration and sign w/another team, the former team gets just a supplementary pick between the 1st and 2nd round.

and it gets a little more tricky if a team signs 2 type A f/a's or more.

Oliver Perez being a Type A free agent is shocking, though im happy because since he is a lefty and has the potential to shut down offenses he will sign somewhere else. Though Im kind of surprised there were no midnight signings or anything really.

Right-handed pitcher Darrell Rasner, who started 20 games for the New York Yankees last season, has been sold to a team in Japan for $1 million, his agent said.

Rasner, 27, expects to sign a two-year deal with the Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles of the Pacific League, agent Matt Sosnick said.

Sosnick said he and Rasner recently approached New York general manager Brian Cashman and told him that Rasner would like to pitch in Japan, and that Cashman and scout Hiroshi Abei helped facilitate the deal.

"Brian made a big effort to make it happen," Sosnick said.

"He really bent over backwards to make this work for Darrell and his family."

Rasner, a second-round draft pick by Montreal in 2002, has a 9-15 record with a 5.00 ERA in four major league seasons.

After getting off to a 3-0 start for the Yankees last season, Rasner finished with a 5-10 record and a 5.40 ERA.

As a Rays fan I hate to see Rasner go.

2 years, 4 million per.

That's actually a pretty decent deal. There's a good chance this was just a fluke year for Affeldt but even if it was that's not a crippling deal by any stretch. Is Sabean showing himself capable enough to at least avoid signing KRod?

We never needed KRod, we have a young solid closer with Brian Wilson. The Giants need a power hitting first basemen to complement our young stud Pablo Sandoval.
