Andruw Jones released.
Anyone think he can rejuvenate himself with his old team?

Now I'm of the belief that roids of course help you, but that much? His fall off is just huge. Now I'm not saying he used or didn't use roids, but I can't point to that is the reason.

Re: The Offseason Thread
Someone (Will Carroll?) said that he drastically changed his swing plane for some reason in 2007, decreasing his LD rate while increasing his popup rates. That could be it, given how he was never the most ardently dilligent worker...

Re: The Offseason Thread
That contract year messed with Andruw's head. He was trying to hit a HR with every swing. He refused to hit the ball the RF. The deeper he got in the hole, the worse his swing got. Pendleton tried to help him, but Andruw was having none of it. Of course, his weight gain didn't help matters.
Not that he was ever a great hitter, pitchers just figured him out more and more. Pitch around his shoe laces and he'll fly out to left or miss.

Re: The Offseason Thread
here's the new rangers alternate jersey. not really a fan of these, only positive is red is the only color the rangers have ever won in. look how awkward this pic of josh hamilton looks though
and fwiw ken rosenthals reporting we met w/ben sheets and his people, O/U 12 starts for him this year? knowing our luck he probably blows out his arm in his 3rd start

Re: The Offseason Thread
i beg all of you to watch this video of the ranger players unveiling the jerseys just to see there new idea for batting helmets. if the rangers decide to go through with these batting helmets, it will be the worst idea since the chi sox wore shorts for a game: http://www.wfaa.com/video/sports-index.html?nvid=324720

Re: The Offseason Thread
The helmet is gross.
The uni's are fine, especially the home red combo.
But I guess kids will like the batting helmets.

Kids will.
I feel sorry for Ranger fans having to look them though.
Maybe the game for Ranger fans might be better suited for the radio.....lol

Re: The Offseason Thread
well we do have the best radio man in the game (eric nadel) but that's beside the point. but the rangers sites i frequent nobody likes the helmets, maybe kids do but i imagine once there's a giant backlash against them they'll be burned, they are seriously as bad as those silver jerseys the mavs had about 5 years ago
btw i finally found a pic of the helmets so people dont have to watch the "fashion show"
