Jim Brown

Never really looked at his career. Obviously saw the clips.

He was a beast, larger than some of his offensive linemen. He punished defenders, didn't run out of bounds, trucked them when he could. He must have been bigger than most of them, but probably also faster.

He averaged 9.6 yards per catch, which would be great now.

He did a lot of things for civil rights but he also supported Nixon and Trump.

He retired rather than report to training camp on time because he was filming a movie or something. Probably more money in Hollywood at that time.

Of course there were several DV incidents in his lifetime.

He used to bag on RBs who came after him, including OJ Simpson, for instance for running out of bounds, even though most of them no longer were bigger than the defenders like he used to be. Speaking of which, he thought that OJ would be convicted and it would be a great day for black Americans.

IMO he is arguably the greatest RB ever and one of the few players of his era who I believe would still be a star in today's NFL.

Something that is not mentioned in the OP, and something that many are unaware of about Brown, is that football wasn't even his best sport. He is in the Lacrosse Hall of Fame and was so good at lacrosse that they had to change the rules of the game because of Brown. Lacrosse was his best sport amazingly enough.

Pounded on his women like he pounded the rock.

Also had one hell of a bunion.
We watched the tragedy unfold. We did as we were told, we bought and sold. It was the greatest show on Earth...but then it was over.
