I'm wary of Penix as well.

Grossman had tiny hands.

Penix has huge hands.

Penix doesn’t do well with motion but has a quick release. He also doesn’t handle penetration up the middle well.

But he does stand tall in the pocket!

True. Penix also isn’t afraid to distribute the ball to many different receivers. He won’t be fixated on one receiver.

Up the middle, penetration and quick release. I need a cold shower.

So Justin Fields is putting on some decent tape. He has shown he could be a good starter, though it's only been about a handful of games.

Bears could strengthen the roster, trade the #1 pick for multiple picks.

But then Fields would be up for a big contract.

I don't know their salary cap situation but the argument is to reset the contractual timeline, draft a rookie who could be as good or better than Fields would be in the next couple of years.

Fields could net a high FRP from a team like the Falcons for instance.

However, this weeks game at Green Bay could be a good measuring stick. Packers need the game so Bears can rest starters. But if they beat the Packers, it could be a good indication that they could be competitive at least for a WC slot next season, with Fields and maybe MHJ or some other top pick for the roster.

Or do they reset a bit and go with Caleb, May, Penix or whomever and try to really compete while the QB is on a rookie deal?

They split with the Lions this season including dominating them in a 28-13 win on Dec 10. Fields was 19-33 for 233 yards with 1 passing TD and 12 carries for 58 yards with 1 rushing TD.

Bears defense has looked very good, even after trading away Roquan Smith.

So they can probably compete for the NFC North next year with the team as-is. Maybe they would be competitive with a top rookie QB as well but the fan base has seen progress in the past month or two.

Do they want to take a step back because a rookie may have a higher ceiling or it would be better for the salary cap?

Obviously trading the #1 pick while keeping Fields would bring back more players and picks vs. trading Fields and using the #1 pick.

Interesting crossroads for the Bears.

Raiders should try to trade up to take a QB they need one. O'Connell is okay but I don't think he's the guy to lead this team. Carolina is looking really bad now trading what they did for Bryce. I just looked up the numbers and he was sacked 60 times I mean holy hell he lost 451 yards.

Philly should be looking at a secondary player Bradberry and Slay are slowing down and with the early second from New Orleans Jeremiah Trotter Jr. has a nice ring to it.

Even if Bears think Fields is on par with Caleb or Drake as quarterback, I think the fact that he is close to getting an extension will make them take a quarterback. That 5 year rookie contract might be the most valuable thing in NFL. and I think Bears team dont have as many holes as most think, they can be a playoff team in a year or two assuming the quarterback they draft is solid.

Fields could become a top 10-15 type of quarterback with the right team and that has value, someone will give a first rounder for him.

You have to think Worthy is now the #2 WR on the board after Harrison jr. that’s an insane time and he could be the next tyreek
