He inherited a team with a QB that's borderline HOF and in his early 30s. I personally don't think Wilson is a HOFer, but he's certainly in the discussion. This should've worked. Wilson has played better than last season, but everything else has also fallen apart. To start out 1-4 is just embarrassing. Losing by 50 to the Dolphins, blowing a 20 point lead vs. Washington, losing to the Jets at home. It's turning into the worst season in franchise history, and this franchise has had plenty of those.
They were both always overrated. The Legion of Boom and Beast mode won Wuss his only super bowl, when they tried to let him win the next one he choked.
Payton had 15 years with a first ballot HoF QB and has one ring, also has some losing seasons mixed in there, three straight years of 7-9. He underachived and people want to put him with Reid, Bellichek, etc...
IDK why they thought Payton + a lesser QB than he had in NO was going to amount to anything.
