Looks like the only players that wanted to play tonight was Ivey, Ausar and Wisemen.

Also, why in the world is Fournier getting minutes. Is he going to be our new Hayes with a decent jumpshot and less defense. Why is it so hard to just run a 9 man rotation?

Mid coach Monty was just starting to almost figure out our rotations a tiny bit. Then Weaver was like I'm bored lets add 6 guys for Monty to try to figure out how to use properly muahahahaha

Fournier Wiseman and Milton none of them should be in the league.

Then you have Muscala and TBJr who are borderline NBA players getting significant minutes/role as well. The nightmare never end.

I noticed he (and Jalen) can never seem to sit down during a game.

At this point in his career, he’s too up and down for me.

Hopefully he can show some level of consistency and durability for a full season next year.

He's either injured or "recovering" from injury, pretty much his entire career. Still early in his career but at some point you might need to just call a spade a spade. He's never going to fulfill his potential if he's constantly injured or simply not 100%.

This x800miklion and it sucks cause his extension coming soon

Sadly, the Lakers played younger than the Pistons.

Can someone please help me understand why Monty feels the need to give Fournier or even any of the newcomers minutes over Sasser? I get Sasser played bad today but he’s shown a lot and deserves more playing time, not to be benched for guys that are barely in the rotation and have no future on the team. I really think he can be an explosive 6th man which will be infinitely more valuable than whatever any of the newcomers are going to bring.

Even Grimes, the guys defence is incredibly overrated and he’s terrible at free throws. How many players have been really good consistent 3pt shooters with terrible free throw numbers?

You can also put me in the frustrated and worn out on Cade club. Slows the game down and relies too much on mid-rangers. I'd rather trade him then extend him for the max at this point. I honestly don't know where he fits, but we need to take the ball out of his hands somehow and see how he does primarily off-ball. He just isn't a pg.

I still think Cade has the chance to be a really good player... The offense being centered around him though certainly makes it easier for the defense to lock in. Giving the ball a ton to one guy just isn't Pistons basketball. I don't want anyone being a 30% usage player unless they are really efficient which Cade isn't. If Cade isn't efficiently putting the ball in the basket why is he getting it 3 out of every 10 times down the court that makes no sense if we're trying to win basketball games.

I remember when curry averaged like 14 points per game and 5 assists, with a great 3 pointer and no defense on a season where bro had like 3 ankle injuries, and GSW gave him a bunch of money. I was like damn that can't be good, he has glass ankles. I dunno man, I think people think players don't make 4th or 5th year jumps or something.

I think that Edwards article with Casey last year had it right with Cade he should be a DDR style player. His handles and athleticism just arent enough to be a lead ball handler. He needs to take some of that usage off his plate and focus more on defense.

he had a great first and second year, then had the huge injury season you mentioned. he signed his extension just before his fourth season where he averaged 23 and 7.

the warriors actually got him for a steal because of those injuries. he signed an extension that started at ~$10M, which was only 17% of the cap. the cap ballooned after that, so in his MVP seasons he was only making 16-17% of the cap while the highest paid guys were making double that. that was the deal that allowed them to get KD too, because it was the last year of curry's rookie extension and he was making only 13% of the cap despite being an all-nba 1st team player.

to compare, blake griffin got a max extension and got $18.9M per year, whereas curry got an extension for $11M/year. harden, tyreke evans, ricky rubio and ty lawson got extended for more than curry and demar derozan and jrue holiday for barely less.

Problem is, he's due an extension this summer. We only have ~30 games to know how much to offer him. We can't really wait until next season to determine his value.

Yep Curry was paid peanuts compared to his peers due to that injury scare. He took the discount and won chips in the end

Yeah, Tyrese Maxy has shown way more than Cade and the 76ers didn’t extend him this past summer to maintain flexibility.

Cade can bet on himself and wait an extra season or take a discount based on his current performance.

damn now that you say that I thought the same, lol. Glad it’s not my $ or decision. Don’t think there’s many other options tho. Moving him might be one, but for what? Maybe he takes a lesser contract cause of injury and wanting to try and win? lol. Idk

$165 million projected cap in the first year of Cade's new deal, I am guessing we will offer him a max deal but I hope we get a year 5 team option and we put some incentives in their as well so its less risky on our end. The hard thing is, if we give Cade a max offer now before he's really shown much you also then have Ivey and Duren the next year and you can be sure both will also be pushing for big deals.

Cade's max assuming he isn't all-nba next year (slightly below max because I did $3 mil bumps instead of $3.3 mil bumps)
25-26: $41
26-27: $44
27-28: $47
28-29: $50
29-30: $53
Total 5 years $235 million

I'd be down to give him this deal for sure if he'd take it this summer...
25-26: $38 + $3 mil for playing in 60+ games and making the playoffs
26-27: $41 + $3 mil for playing in 60+ games and making the playoffs
27-28: $44 + $3 mil for playing in 60+ games and making the playoffs
28-29: $47 + $3 mil for playing in 60+ games and making the playoffs
29-30: $53 (Team Option)
This deal only has $170 million guaranteed instead of the $235 million.
