Damn, we couldn't at least get a 2030 2nd rounder for him?

When you stop gifting an underserving player 26+ minutes a night it gives you a real chance at starting to change the culture of the team.

At least the early projections from some of the posters in the past ended up being mildly correct even if it was premature to declare anything of note. For me, he was not good in the piss poor German league so I just couldn't see a path where he somehow transcended that and became an actual NBA player worthy of being #7

Killian Hayes is a perfect example that youth does not always = upside/potential.

It also shows that while its not true in every case, in some situations you can certainly accurately project based on "small sample sizes." it was painfully obvious that Killian Hayes was not going to pan out VERY EARLY on.

If we just cut (or don’t play) Wiseman we are actually playing only genuine NBA players now. Kind of exciting.

What a joke of a draft pick. The worst part is that they couldn’t find a taker. Just bad on so many levels. I’m hoping Weaver gets fired at year end but I already know Gores will extend him and offer a small ownership stake. I think that Gores must think the NBA is a real life NBA 2k game.

There’s a few other losers on this list as well. Drafting isn’t easy. Checking results a couple of years later is.

Its pretty sad how low the bar is for a sizable portion of the Pistons' fan base.

That isn't a knock on the fans, its an indictment of the organization.

Here, you have two legit starters and two borderline starter/bench+ guys. Anybody on this list is better than Killian turned out to be. This is a significant miss that must be considered when aggregating Weaver's value as a FO decision-maker. And yeah, hindsight is always 20/20.

This is why I never liked draft picks, especially lottery picks.. Trade them for an established 25-yr old. Use the 2nd round picks to swing at a European player, or a 4-yr guy.

"They're playing him so they can trade him!" -- even if we got a 2nd rounder, big deal. You screw your team over one guy who can't play. Made no sense. Other players think "I'm being penalized because I'm better?". That'll attract FA's!

I mean, not really. All of the guys drafted directly after Hayes are far better players. Haliburton is the main notable but Toppin, Avdija, Vassell and Smith are all solid to very good NBA players. They're also far better than the other two players that caught Weaver's eye, Wiseman and Williams. Not to mention that they rid of a better player than Wiseman to acquire Wiseman and are still paying a heavy price for burning that 1st for Stewart. Might be one of the worst drafts in history for a GM considering how it all played out.

Bye Killian. Best of luck. It's not your fault we drafted you so high.

There's an argument for Blake over Charlie V.... even though Blake gave us a good 1.5 years we still gave ups Harris + picks for him and if we didn't make that trade we almost certainly would have just missed the playoffs that season in the 2018 draft where the picks in that range looked like this.

10. Mikal Bridges
11. SGA
12. Miles Bridges
13. Jerome Robinson
14. Michael Porter Jr.

Our entire franchise's history from 2018 could look entirely different if we didn't make the Blake trade.

I give the Blake trade a pass only because Blake’s previous injuries all seemed to be freak accidents. Prior to being traded to us he was playing at a superstar level and continued to do so with us until his body finally gave in. Had Reggie been healthy to carry at least some of the load and had we traded Drummond at his peak I think we could’ve seen a first round series win.
