We should trade for Sam Cassell. He would be an awesome backup PG in the playoffs.

Ooooh. What would we have to do to get him? Is he already playing backup?

I like Sam but at this point he is hurt and is often hurt. I was thinking of Mike James who seem to be on the outs in Houston but when I looked at the contract, this year and 2 more at about 6 mil I think its unlikely Joe does that. If Amir is not up to the task as the 4th big I like Kurt Thomas.

Gushing over Gerald Green is allowed but this thread is about trade proposals. Let us hear yours.

"I was just going to say that", my trade proposal is Gerald Green, I just pointed it out because the guy before me said so I simply listed some of his abilities along with it.

Some teams who have been struggling and may move some players.

Bulls, Heat, Nets, Knicks, Bucks. Memphis, Sacramento, LA Clippers

New York, at 14-28 is amazingly just 3.5 games out of the 8th seed currently held by the 19-26 Indiana Pacers.

So alot of bad teams in the East still have a shot at making the playoffs. The Nets have lost 8 in a row and are reportedly interested in trading Vince and his huge contract they gave him this summer.

These are some of the players who could be traded IMO.

Ben Wallace, Andres Nocioni, Ben Gordan, Jason WIlliams, Udonis Haslem, Ricky Davis, Vince Carter, Zach Randolph, Eddy Curry, Michael Redd, Bobby Simmons, Mike Miller, Pau Gasol, Mike Bibby, Ron Artest, Brad Miller, Corey Maggette, Elton Brand, Sam Cassell.

Here's a trade that works in the checker (after Feb 14th) and would put us over the top this season. Although we'd be mortgaging some of the "future"....

Detroit trades:
Stuckey, Prince, Amir, and Brezec

Detroit receives:
Mike Bibby and Brad Miller

Detroit becomes:
C:Miller/Dice
PF:Sheed/Max
SF:Rip/Hayes/Afflalo
SG:Billups/Rip/Afflalo
PG:Bibby/Billups

You want to move Billups to SG, Rip to SF, and Sheed to PF while bringing in a $14 mil PG? I think our players are better at the positions they currently play. I dont mind too much moving Sheed to PF.

Joe would be foolish not to make a deal... even if it was a minor deal like Murray for Steven Hunter... we need defensive depth at the 5 spot.

I basically agree with you on Wallace - as does 2 Chicago basketball writers with whom I have e-mailed. The feelings are that Wallace is being shopped - to a very limited market, of course. The Bulls would be willing to add a young player in order to make a deal happen.

If Wallace is NOT traded, these writers all feel that there will be no Chicago trade. Players like Nocioni & Hinrich are available but both are BYC, making a trade difficult. Players like Gordon & Deng do not have much trade value because of their high contract demands for next season.

One writer (Sam Smith) feels that there is a good chance Bulls can move Wallace. The other writer thinks there will be no deal but feels NJ is the best possibility (for Kidd).

I have a thought...

How about this trade...

Prince
Brezec
Hermann
Amir Johnson

for Tracy McGrady

As of right now Houston would not make the playoffs and we need a SF. We could throw in a pick for good measure. Works in trade checker.

^ so who would be Houston's SG? Prince and Battier are both SFs so they would need to make another deal. FWIW I would rather deal Max than Amir. He would have half a season with the minutes Max got to be ready for the post season. Flip would have no choice but to play him. I would also see about bringing D Davis back as the 4th big for insurance.

Gerald Green will be an unrestricted free agent next year. We don't really have to trade for him if we wait. I've heard he has a low BBall IQ though.

TMac would be sick - Prince and Amir and trash? Let's do it.

I **** Hate Tmac and I **** Hate ron Artest.

I would honestly rather add a guy like Nocioni or Battier.

One thing is for sure, we don't have a legit C and we don't have a good enough backup PG to win a championship IMO.

We've struggled with backup PG's since losing Mike James.

Prince hasn't been a "difference maker" for a long time and I've seen nothing about him that makes me think he can slow down Lebron or Pierce in the playoffs. Honestly Rip has done better defensively than Prince lately.

How about this 3 way trade? It will work salary wise after Feb 14th...

Detroit trades: Prince, Johnson, Brezec

Detroit receives: Brad Miller and Shane Battier

Sacramento trades: Brad Miller and Ron Artest

Sacramento receives: Prince, Amir, Brezec, Houston future 1st

Houston trades: Shane Battier and future 1st

Houston receives: Ron Artest

We become:

C:Miller/Dice
PF:Sheed/Max
SF:Battier/Hayes
SG:Rip/Afflalo
PG:Billups/Stuckey

At least w/ TMac we would get a serious scorer (providing that he can stay healthy - not a sure thing).

I like the thought of Battier if for no other reason to slow down LBJ.

Billups, Stuckey and Hunter for the playoffs - better get used to it at PG.

Are you sure you want a somewhat streaky Hayes and rookies Afflalo and Stuckey backing up those three positions? I am not confident that Stuckey and Afflalo will help us to a championship. They will be chewed up and spat out by the more expreinced second units in the league.
