Alright, after a somewhat disappointing night its time for some good ol' afternoon baseball. Moises Alou is the one with the history against Sheets, bating .361 with two jacks against him. Although as we know the Mets sure can hit. I'm hoping we get a lefty to start in right, thought I have bad luck in guessing Mench won't start, so there he sits in my projection. One of these days Rickie and Billy will really start hitting, and the way JJ, Prince and Geoff are going, hopefully that can generate enough offense. Also have to say that Benny is due for a dominating performance, let's hope its against these stinkin' Mets.

Around the NL Central: Every team in the division lost last night, so the Crew hold on to their lead, including the franchise-record seven game lead over the Cubs. Chicago takes on Philly again, with Houston going up against Arizona and Pittsburgh against Atlanta later tonight.

We certainly can't let old pisshands beat us. Hopefully everyone knows the story behind that or I'm going to sound like a real idiot. Anyway, I get nervous for these kinda starts with Sheets because you know if it's gonna be a long day right away (see the Cardinal game earlier this year). He can't hang out a lot of pitches up in the zone today or we are going to get waxed. Pelfrey is 0-4 for a reason so we better not be up there swinging at the first pitch every time.

I'm calling out Rickie Weeks and Bill Hall. STEP IT UP BOYS!

Why Athletes Pee on Their Hands
Does urine really toughen the skin?
By Dan Kois
Posted Monday, May 17, 2004, at 5:03 PM ET

In a recent interview with ESPN's Gary Miller, Chicago Cubs outfielder Moises Alou revealed that during baseball season he urinates on his hands to toughen them up. Alou, one of the few major leaguers who doesn't wear gloves while batting, is backed up by Yankees catcher Jorge Posada, who says, "You don't want to shake my hand during spring training." Even Cubs hurler Kerry Wood mentioned on a local radio show that he's tried the technique to remedy blisters on his pitching hand (though he wryly added that there's also a well-known clubhouse cure for headaches: "crapping in your hat"). Does urine really toughen the skin?

Quite the opposite. Proponents of urine therapy

2 AB's for Gwinn at leadoff, to walks drawn, a run, and a stolen base (so far). Good stuff.

I have been saying we should start Tony GWynn since the beginning of pre season.

Hopefully this isn't just a one day thing.

Touche good sir, it was Prince who drew that other walk I was referring to. Gwynn singled to right.

Gwynn is the perfect leadoff hitter. Its just too bad we cant have 4 outfielders like in softball.
