In Columbus, that's bold..

Well here's the deal. Last year, the raging debate was Ohio state over Penn state the conference champion, because Ohio State had a marquee win. And that debate to go to the final 4, was the win over Oklahoma. I'm saying the reverse will happen this year. Oklahoma's debate to get into the final 4. Will be a victory at OSU.

Should be a VERY good game. If Ohio State can get past that nasty offensive line and put some pressure on Mayfield they win the game. If not, Oklahoma pulls off the upset.

And oh yeah, I am not impressed with Ohio State at home. For some reason folks are in awe of that. But we went in there one year with an inexperienced QB and took the W

Well the Oklahoma schools maybe...not sure how much faith I'd put in the Texas schools, though I guess TCU is looking pretty good.

If tcu's defense is back they're a tough out even though I think their qb is meh (got a badass backup freshman tho)

Kansas st will always be tough as long as Snyder is there. They always give Oklahoma st fits. And I think West Virginia should be p good too. Like their qb and it's rarely easy in Morgantown

Sagarin Conference Ratings — Simple Average

  1. 80.86 — SEC
  2. 78.41 — Pac-12
  3. 77.72 — Big 12
  4. 77.59 — ACC
  5. 77.52 — Big Ten
Bigger gap from #1 to #2 than from #2 to #5. BIG 12, ACC, and BIG TEN really close together. Massive East–West divide within both SEC and Big Ten (SEC West >>> SEC East; Big Ten East >>> Big Ten West).

bwgood77 and bleu, y'all need to sync on which week in the season it is.

NOTE: There's actually a decent argument to be made either way — I just think this board needs to choose one to help limit my (already extensive) confusion. :sigh:

I say week 3 mostly because that is what the ranking actually says..that it is the week 3 ranking. Only a handful of teams played in week one, though, and no one actually IN the current top 25 has played 3 games.

Oh man, I just realized: even ESPN is inconsistent with this: http://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/20635915/oklahoma-sooners-move-college-football-power-rankings-week-2

Well, on espn's ranking page it appears it's called the week 3 ranking because the preseason ranking was the week 1 ranking. I probably shouldn't call it "udpated through week 3" but just week 3 rankings since we are now in the third week. The rankings don't come out until after the week 2's games are played when we are in week 3.

I will ignore their power rankings.

Yeah, I really don't consider the first week of games Week 1 when only 9 of the 130 D1 FBS teams played. I consider this week week 3.

Pac 12 is the elite conference this year. I'd put Big 10 second.

Man, I know both of you guys are kidding. I love the Pac 12 and always cheer for their teams. But there's no question that the three best conferences are the SEC, ACC, and B1G. Pac 12 and Big 12 are a step below those this year.

Take away Bama and I don't see what's great about the sec. offense is an endangered species in that conference.

Kidding? KIDDING! The Pac 12 is clearly the strongest conference, at least at the top half of it. Washington and USC are two of the top 3 or 4 best teams in the country. UCLA, Stanford, Washington State, Utah, and Colorado are all top 20-25 like teams.

I have to disagree. Right now they look good in the polls (like they do every year early in the season), but there really haven't been any impressive wins so far.

Washington snuck one past Rutgers, Wazzau took an enormous comeback at home to beat a Mountain West team, and Cal, Oregon and UCLA each picked up decent wins. But other than that the Pac 12 really hasn't done anything yet. And the bottom part of the conference looks DREADFUL (Oregon St, Arizona, Arizona St).

Again, I'm a Pac 12 fan and I hope that I'm wrong and that the rankings look the same towards the end of the season. But I think come mid-December the only Pac 12 teams in the top 25 will be Washington, USC, and maybe Stanford.
