It's On! First Sat. thread (8/30)

Post#1 » by Icness » Sat Aug 30, 2008 1:29 pm

Pretty much every team is in action today.
Somebody with more time and a better grasp of pasting logos or graphics--feel free to create these in the future.
Among the games I'm watching:
Ohio State hosting Youngstown State
Utah at Michigan
East Carolina at Virginia Tech
USC at UVA
Michigan State at Cal
but the game of the day is the night game border war:
Missouri vs. Illinois

Crack open a 12-pack, some tasty snacks, and enjoy the return of college football!
It's not whether you win or lose, it's how good you look playing the game

I decided to make the Game of the Week thread, which is Alabama vs Clemson. Is that ok?

Games I am going to be watching.

USC vs Viginia
Utah vs Michigan

Since FAU vs Texas wont be on TV, I guess I will have to listen to it.

I'll be watching Akron v Wisconsin and Tenn-Martin v USF, for sure, and Illinois v Mizzou will definitely be interesting.

There's a lot of really cool sports bars around here (I need some wings), so I'll probably check a few of those out before the night ends.

BTW, I say LSU wins a squeaker vs. App. St., 34-28.

If App. St. wins this game, how much talk about a change in the jump rule do you think there will be?

Illinois/Missouri should be a good one. I want to see how Juice has improved and how the offense looks after losing Mendenhall.

LSU is the first team to score first today.

I completely forgot all about the Illinois and Mizzou game.

I'll probably flip back and forth tonight.

Virginia Tech tried to go for it on 4th and 1 and was stuffed by ECU's defense.

Terrelle Pryor finally came in the game.

He made a nice run, and also got sacked.

Virginia Tech is finally scoring.

Les Miles should probably send the blueprints on how to destroy Appy State to Lloyd Carr's house. In all seriousness though, I love Carr and respect what he accomplished in his time as coach at Michigan. He's one of those guys who puts a player's education above anything else and I can't really bash him for his teams underachieving on the field since he made sure they were performing in the classroom. With that said, today is the dawn of a new era, a breath of fresh air, if you will. I'm going to thoroughly enjoy not being able to predict every other offensive playcall all season long. I look forward to a season where the expectations aren't very high. It's going to be very interesting to see how the offense comes together since most people think that Rodriguez needs a scrambling QB to succeed when that's not necessarily the case. His offense at Tulane was led by Shaun King of all people and they were a fun little team to watch and put up points in bunches. Hopefully Rich Rod's boys can surprise some folks right out of the gate.

That because they haven't put my boy Joe T in yet. He'll shut BG down.
