Michigan is about to fall to Utah. It's their second straight season opening loss at home.

Late afternoon thoughts:
Michigan will be decent once they find a QB, but right now their QB play is low-level MAC caliber and that isn't going to change much this season. I was impressed with their defensive speed, esp. the big guys up front. Utah is a very solid football team and if they wouldn't have made all those stupid penalties they could have won by 20. Their P/K is a legit NFL prospect. Liked what I saw of their safety too.

USC fans shouldn't get too excited about winning at UVA. It's the most sterile CFB environ in the country and I would bet good money the Hoos lose to Richmond next week. Sanchez did look real strong in the brief glimpses I took.

Penn State never took their foot off the gas, very unJoePa of them. I wonder if he's trying to send a message to potential recruits that he has moved beyond the 19th century mindset.

Syrcause should seriously consider just dropping football for a couple of years. They got absolutely manhandled by a pretty mediocre Northwestern team. The Wildcats have a good QB/RB combo and that's about it, okay in the secondary. The Orange might not win against anyone but their token game from Northeastern.

My beloved alma mater dropped a heartbreaker to Wyoming, 21-20. At least Solich got them to cover...

Colt McCoy is the McCoy of old. 14-15 with 155 yards and 2 touchdowns.

I can't tell if Illinois is just not an upper-echelon school quite yet, or if Mizzou will be a force to be reckoned with this season.

Well, the Wolverine offense was pathetic with the exception of 3 or 4 plays and it looked like the defense all of the sudden became the unit I expected them to be in the 2nd half. We need a QB badly, Threet and Sheridan each showed signs of being decent, but overall they were pitiful. The o-line play was pretty terrible also, we had no running game whatsoever. Hopefully they get better as the season rolls on because if they don't it's going to be a loooooong season.

I missed the ILL/Miz Game. Was our defense that bad or their offense that good? If you take away second quarter though, we played them well. Juice went for 400/5 talk about a surprise.

As good as Juice looked at times, he really killed any chance they had of coming back with some awful throws.

The Illini just couldn't tackle worth a damn yesterday, so it looks as if their D will need major work. Juice showed he wasn't quite over the hump yet, because when it really counted, he couldn't make the throws to set his team up, like High 5 said.

I really like the way Mizzou looked, but their D may be a tad overrated from what a lot of the "experts" have been saying.

This seems pretty nitpicky. Juice had 450 yards passing with a 60%+ completion rate and 5 TDs. The Illini had problems, but they did not involve Juice.

Our D-Line was supposed to provide us with a huge advantage over their o-line, but it was quite the opposite. Illinois' line let a Heisman-quality QB have all the time in the world, and he burned us. That's what it comes down to.

Illinois is not a top-5, even top-10 team this year, and they're ranked accordingly in the polls. Next year, maybe.

Not a good showing by Louisville today. They just let the 310-lb. Myron Pryor return a fumble 72 yards, and the only guy who even bothered going after him was the center.

i am not going to lie. i got into college football with reggie bush/matt leinart and i've been following them ever since.

there's no other team in NY/NJ to really follow. syracuse sucks, and i don't like rutgers. college basketball i've been a lifelong st john's fan even though they are terrible.
