Week 3 Game thread

Post#1 » by Icness » Sat Sep 13, 2008 1:46 am

We have a separate thread for USC/OSU, this is for the rest...

Games worth watching:
Kansas at South Florida, currently 20-10 KU thanks to some awful pass defense by the Bulls

UCLA at BYU, if the Cougars can win this one they have a real good shot at an undefeated season and a BCS berth

Wisconsin at Fresno State, see BYU above but probably a little longer odds

Oregon at Purdue

Auburn at Miss St., not an easy place for Auburn to win

Michigan at Notre Dame, the loser is going to have real trouble getting bowl-eligible

Georgia at South Carolina, good litmus test for the Bulldogs

I hope everyone got to watch a little of UNC laying the wood to Rutgers on Thursday. That game was not as close as the 44-12 final score.

For you D-II folks, the annual GVSU/SVSU scrum is this weekend and this just might be the year the Cardinals finally nip the Lakers.
It's not whether you win or lose, it's how good you look playing the game

I think Michigan is going to blow out the Domers, and I'm going to love all of the Blue fans saying 'Oh yeah, now we're back! You better watch out!', when they'll struggle to win 6-7 this year.

Oh I'm not that delusional, I still think they can win 8 if they ever get the offense together, but I think tomorrow is going to be an absolute crapfest. I wouldn't recommend anyone who's not a fan of either team bother to tune in at all. I'm a huge Michigan fan and I'm sitting here thinking about all the things I could get done in the 3-4 hours I'm going to spend watching a display of how you're NOT supposed to play football...

I'll go with:

UCLA/BYU - BYU
Wisconsin/Fresno - Fresno
Oregon/Purdue - Oregon
Auburn/Miss ST. - Miss ST.
Mich/ND - Michigan
Georgia/S.Car - UG

You didn't list it, but Arizona ST. vs Maryland is a fairly interesting match up. I'll take ASU in that one.

USF will go unbeaten. You saw it here first. The football gods are taking care of them.

The only team that can beat them still on their schedule is....USF....UGH!

I hate them.

They will go 12-0, but be denied the BCS championship because their conference has no nuclear powers in it. Hah.

Oregon State has Hawaii coming in to Corvallis today. The Beavs might actually have a shot at this one...I hope!
This space needs to be filled with a new sig...but I'm too lazy to make one.

Chuck Weiss's knee injury was the nastiest knee bend since Willis McGahee in the 03 Fiesta Bowl...

I wish I knew why Georgia couldn't just demolish SC l ike they should. Every year SC gives us their best defensive game and our receivers/coaches have their worst. Dropped two sure TD and Moreno only ran the ball 20 times. Dumb.

Javon Ringer is a beast. He had close to 50 carries for 288 yards in some of the worst playing conditions I've ever seen. There were times it was raining so hard you couldn't see from one sideline to the other, and the wind was a steady 15 MPH with gusts double that. Amazing balance, he was the onyl guy who wasn't sliding all over the place when he cut.

That Charlie Weis leg snap was grotesque. I wonder how much Oxycontin they shot into his fat a$$ to get him back on the sidelines...
Michigan's offense is unbelievably bad. They simply cannot throw, and with the threat of the throw gone, the spread run is real easy to defend.

Surprised to see VaTech pull it off against Georgia Tech. Because of how bad Michigan is, you don't hear much about it but this is the weakest Hokies team in a long time, since pre-Druckenmiller era. It says a lot about Frank Beamer that they could beat a quality opponent after a real tough week.

Purdue chokes one away. That last-second FG missed by 50 yards. Oregon gets the win but loses yet another QB.

Many mistakes by both the players and coaching staff. We can't continue to play like that and expect to beat the rest of the SEC. I don't care of SC has a good defense or not. I'm curious to see if we drop.

If the voters want to stay consistent then I'll be shocked if Georgia doesn't fall again after the beating Oklahoma put on Washington. Stupid, but as long as Georgia is there if they win out I don't care.

So...anyone want to talk about one of the worst calls ever in the UW/Fresno game?
