Oh.. I think you're having a different conversation. The point isnt that some bigs can be good without a jumper - most don't - its about the difficulty of developing one. Ben Simmons has tried forever to be some sort of perimeter threat and its not gone well. Bam wouldnt apply because he actually does have a credible jumper, but he's always had one

How long have we been waiting for Looney to develop his jumper? I mean he was seen as a KD like prospect in HS and it's never materialized in the NBA. It's so rare for a player to not take any jumpshots at all in college and then get a respectable jumper. Could it happen? Sure. The same way he could become the best player in the NBA. It's highly unlikely. Which is fine, he can play his role and star in his role and can be a huge impact player that way. We don't have to hope for magical skills to appear out of nowhere. He can be an offensive hub the same way Sabonis is. If he can be a more athletic Sabonis, I'll take that all day from the 57th pick.

TJD needs to work on his passing from the center spot. Being able to pass and dictate the offense from the center position is huge. Just being able to run more offense through him at the top and him being a good screen setter will go miles further than him developing an iffy jump shot. He's shown good decision making and able to make the passes. We just need to go to it more. It seemed like we started to do it in the Spurs game.

I still don't see him as more than a role player or like the 5th starter on a good team.

Looney was a starter...so....hell yeah.

But it only matters on a good team. IMO he's not playing because of a lack of HIS skill....it's because he's playing next to another non-scorer (Draymond) and, other than Curry, there's no other reliable shooter on the team.

Curry, Paul George, Kuminga, Draymond, TJD....heck yeah.

A 7 foot version of Trayce would be our srarting center of the future but he is only 6’ 9”..He can platoon with as less tallented true big man. Clint Capella is also not tall enough but he is a decent starting center.

Peak Looney plus more experienced Trayce isn’t a bad pair. What is wrong with Looney this year? Too small but with the two of them they might be OK.
