Re: Warriors select SG Justinian Jessup with the 51st pick
I like the kid. He can definitely shoot and creates enough separation, and he has some other scoring skills as well. Importantly, he also has a short memory and enough confidence to keep shooting even when he missed a couple shots before. He moves really well and consistently off the ball, and he keeps the ball moving for the most part. On defense, he plays hard and generally sound. I also like that he uses his strength to box opponents out, he doesn't mind the physicality. He appears to have a strong base, so I can see him being able to hold his own against some bigger players although the lack of length will hurt him somewhat in those situations.
That said, for all the intriguing aspects of his game there are moments when he drives to the rim or has to defend a quick Guard and you see him struggle, and that is obviously going to be worse at the NBA level with longer and quicker players. He's crafty in the midrange area but I think he'll struggle to score around the rim. Nothing wrong with that considering what kind of shooter he is but of course it limits his ceiling as a scorer. On defense, I think he'll be fine by and large but not sure how long it'll take until you can have him on the floor against the better players and units in the NBA.
Nonetheless, at this point he sure looks like someone who can benefit our team in spurts off the bench from the moment he comes over. Great find!

If Jessup's high upside is JJ Reddick, we can use it. I'd be way okay with that.

if the 51st pick makes it 5 years in the NBA as a garbage time bench warmer that's technically a successful pick

Another gem from The Colonel
26 points. I think he's really gonna help Klay's transition back next season. Hes going to take some pressure off of Klay and it will help to hold Klays early minutes down. Such a great pick.
If anyone can find that practice video of him practicing bad pass threes, I'd love to have it.

I don’t remember if he was practicing them or just talking about practicing them, but it was in that pre-draft long interview/tape analysis he did. The same guy also did one with CalebMylie10 wrote:Another gem from The Colonel

This movie is like the Rocky Horror Picture Show where everyone knows all the lines.

he's got a beautiful shot, not just set shots but can also hit the pull up, good to see he has some full court chops as well, he's intriguing but we still need to see if he has any other peripheral skills on offense or what he can do on defense

The Warriors have sent a scout to watch JJ who is shooting nearly 47% on 3's! I would like to see him with the squad at the end of the year.

I haven't watched one minute of this guy's play but I've heard he's doing well in the Australian league and the Hawks are no joke - they seasoned LaMelo Ball pretty well. Would be just like the warriors to snap up a gem in the second round.

Re: Warriors select SG Justinian Jessup with the 51st pick
The kids jumper is silky and his footwork (to set up his J) is very advanced.
Also loved the simple way he sets his man up to get hung up on a flare screen at 28second mark of vid.
Does anyone know how the competition level of professionalism ball in Australia stacks up to the other foreign pro leagues?

Re: Warriors select SG Justinian Jessup with the 51st pick
It's interesting that the Warriors selected Jessup. Makes me wonder if there were Warriors scouts that really liked LaMelo. I don't see how you can be high on Jessup without being high as well on LaMelo. My main concern with LaMelo was that his play in the Australian NBL might not give an accurate representation of how a player would translate to the NBA.

Re: Warriors select SG Justinian Jessup with the 51st pick
Saying it now....Rather have Jessup than Corey Kispert from Gonzaga. Jessup just does more. He’s got much better handles and can also create shots better than Kispert. Both shoot lights out, but Jessup has the better ability to create his own shot or shots for others.
