Re: Warriors select SG Justinian Jessup with the 51st pick
Another 24 point game for Jessup with a sick behind the back twice and then finish. So good.
His release is so fast. Gonna be tons of fun watching him and Klay running and gunning next year with Steph.

This movie is like the Rocky Horror Picture Show where everyone knows all the lines.

But can he do the double behind the back dribble for a jumper in the NBA, lol?

Jessup can obviously shoot. My question is whether he will be able to play adequate defense at the NBA level and whether there is any way for our scouts to discern that just by watching him defend Australian-league players.

He’s super smart, so picking up team defensive concepts should probably be fine for him. And he’s got some athleticism. He’s gonna be fine. Especially as a bench guy.

I remember when Dunleavy was on the Warriors. He'd be passive game after game, until someone would publicly criticize him for it. He'd then turn into Angry Dun for a game or two & play great, just to prove he wasn't passive. Then he'd be passive again for another couple of weeks.
Jessup's game kinda reminds me of a fulltime Angry Dun. Only shorter.

Trading Dunleavy was one of the happiest moments in GS history for me. Not cuz of who we got from the Pacers or because I wanted Caron Butler over him and was more happy that we drafted Logan in the 2nd and never played for us - it was that I just didnt like his game - at all

Everytime i get excited about Jessup i remember that guys like Machado are leading the league in scoring haha
I will say this though: Jessup reminds me a lot more of a poor man Middleton or a Joe Ingles than he does a Duncan Robinson, which seems to be the main comparison he gets. Not saying he will translate in the NBA to be as good as any of them, just the way he plays and the skills he shows at that age.

He’s going to be a legit rotation player.

I thought about Jingles. But probably not as good defensively or as a playmaker.
I'm looking more for a Joe Harris type career arc.

Re: Warriors select SG Justinian Jessup with the 51st pick
Kid is so silky smooth. I wonder what kind of money he’s making in Australia. And how much they might offer him long term over there?
It would be awesome to see him doing that for us right now. Because to me, the biggest need other than playmaker is a serious shooter with some size.
I love that he can create threes off the dribble as well as being elite catch and shoot.

Bring in his backcourt mate Tyler Harvey for a look in SL. That SOB can stroke it too.

Average salary there is like $120K with team cap of $1.5-ishM. I doubt as a rookie he is anything above average. I think he can make more on a two-way.

And I would lock this kid up on a multi year. There is no reason to play around with this kid and two ways or non guarantees. Just lock him up so we have him in tow.

I like that the NBL teams look like they run modern NBA offenses. He is getting a lot of experience playing with space and pace which is great for joining the Warriors. I know he is not being guarded by NBA level defenders but his shooting ability off the dribble and the ability to put the ball on the floor is far better than I thought it would be.
