Move over Steph. This kid had multiple 18 board games this last season.

upside:

- great shooter
- quick release
- smart player
- good passer for SG
- tough guy, gets rebounds and doesnt shy from contact

downside:

- a bit stubby (6'5-6'6 wingspan)
- low release point on jumper
- tends to ballstop, not sure of fit in motion offense
- poor on-ball defender

Kris Murray would have been a better pick.

I thought he was going to be the pick as he can play right away.

And he'd be fighting for minutes with Wiggins, Dray, Moody and Kuminga, who are going to eat up the bulk of the 3/4 minutes. And I would assume 40 returns too, much to no one's delight

Anyone down on the pick read this. Also check out the Twitter link in the thread as it breaks down some of his defensive upside off the ball. He’ll struggle on the ball but he knows what he’s doing off the ball.

He started basketball in the 8th grade. By his senior year was lighting it up with over 30+ppg. His rebounding and steals should net more possessions adding value to the team. Great shooter. Upside is jalen Brunson? Can overcome athletic deficiencies if you have the iq to make up for it. Strong possibility that he can based on passing, rebounding, off ball defense, defensive awareness.

Kris Murray looks like the worst player taken in the 1st round

I absolutely hate hearing his upside is Brunson, I hate guys like that. Dont think he'll ever be a winner. But I love the rest.. was probably my 3rd favorite choice at SG and 4th overall at 19. But the good news is we avoided landmines and picked a guy who fits our system.. and as a bonus, it pisses off some of the more reactionary posters here and I can't undersell how good that usually is for our team's chances

Look at this dudes time line for June 5th. He has like 8 plays of podz defense against Gonzaga.

I get what he's saying, but man, thats a weird way of saying "Here's him being late on a rotation and fouling someone"

Podz is a grower
I was right about 3 point shooting. I expect to be right about Tacko Fall. Some coach will figure out how to use Tacko Fall. This movement towards undersized centers will sweep ng back. Back to the basket scorers will return to the NBA.

This was my Podz video back in November. I had my doubts but he won me over during the season.

I think Brunson was used as a flavor of the week type prospect. An undersized guard who doesn’t have a lot of athleticism but can still create his own shot.

But really podz is a dog and he’ll fight and claw for everything. Rebounds like ddv, float game like Ty, shoots like curry? Haha a lot of his 3s came off the dribble it seems like. Finished atr 60%.

My biggest concern with him is something that drove me nuts with Monta, Poole, Oubre and every other BBIQ deficient we've ever had (and to be clear, not calling Podz that): he has a habit of catching the ball, holding it and surveying the situation. That kind of stuff makes it hard to integrate in with the starters, but if our goal is to slow down the 2nd unit, run more PnR sets with CP3/Kuminga, and do off-ball motion with guys like Moody, PBJ and Podz.. it could work. But if its a habit he can't break, I think minutes with the starters will come few and far between
