Just listening to that LSU/Alabama game. Hendrix goes to the line more than 7 times a game and shoots around 50% from the line. Nelson is gonna have a heart attack.

if hendrix plays the Millsap role, he will play lots of minutes. he becomes our rebounder off the bench now. he has a better chance of making the rooks/soph game than Randolph.

Hendrix fits a need. He can contribute right now.

Dubbs hired a FT shooting coach, and made a major difference for most of the team last year. Hope he can do his magic with him too.

Cohan, just don't get cheap on us and not keep Sidney Moncrief.

Warriors finally got a Millsap/Maxcel type of player. Was hoping Lasme be the one.... but looks like we got a true Millsap/Maxcel this time around.

And according to most reports of his workouts, he has surprised most scouts by his improvement on his free throws and mid-range. He seems like a hard worker (he's also a coach's son) and I'm not really worried about his shooting touch.

Fitz and Brooks: "Beware of the thunder sticks!!!"

Man we needed bulk so badly. Not that we would have, but I would have been happy if we took Hendrix with our 14th pick.

This draft would have been a whole lot worse if Hendrix hadn't slipped to us.

I know these are workout vids and he's probably just trying to say the right things, but he just seems to have a great attitude and seems to just enjoy playing tough no non-sense basketball...

I'm very excited about this pick and I agree that it makes the Randolph pick easier to be patient with.

This totally makes up for taking Randolph. Not that I think Randolph can't be good, but I just don't know much about him, and he doesn't seem like he can help us NOW. But Hendrix is exactly the type of guy we needed to get in the 2nd round. 10+ rpg in the SEC? Can't complain about that.

I always crack up over the importance given to the 2nd round selections here..Last year we talked Lasme non-stop for 3 months

It's a damn shame the warriors are giving out Dampier's #35 to a scrub...We should had a ceramony for the big fella and retired that number.

too late, they tossed the Damp jerseys and the dumpster was hauled off the next morning so the ceremony to retire his number was cancelled.

Some talked Lasme up... I wanted Fessenko or McGuire.

Hendrix is basically Paul Millsap with less ability to guard on the perimeter.

The big difference between Hendrix and Lasme is about 2-3 inches in height,20 pounds of beef, and one was a shot blocking specialist, and one is a big rebounding specialist... the latter being what the warriors desperatly lack off the bench.

oh yea those 10+ rebounds per game might have been a factor as well. physique wise he looks to be NBA ready, he is 21 years old, im concerned about his foot speed and quickness tho... he looks rather slow...hendrix that is.

Actually, the height gap was about an inch but the weight gap was at least 30 lb. Lasme averaged about 9.5 rbd. Hendrix edge is he scored more. Lasme can play but nobody can do anything until you put him in a game. If Hendrix never gets to play...then he's another zero.

Is that an NBA inch or a regular inch?

Millsap has much more offensive game than Hendrix. But thats exactly what we need. We dont need Hendrix to get 15 ppg, we need him to create hard contact and clean up the boards or box out and allow his teammates to get boards.

Lasme was trash. As is Diogu and all that other **** people were hyping here.

Wasnt Diogu...Elton Brand II?

From Hoopsanalyst.com:

"Richard Hendrix was taken in the second round and is a steal in the way Carlos Boozer and Paul Millsap were. He immediately becomes the Warriors best rebounding PF and that’s going to get him some PT immediately. As good a fit as Hendrix is here, he’s a sleeper for the all-rookie team."

Interesting point... I think we'll probably get a sense early in the season about whether that's reasonable... but Hendrix was definitely one of the best pfs in the draft...

For those to whom measurements mean something...

Standing reach is key to me... and since DX has a pretty good database of such numbers:
http://www.draftexpress.com/nba-pre-dra ... s=0&sort=6

Hendrix: 9'0" + 32 lbs
Lasme: 8'11"

Others similar to Hendrix?

Stoudemire, Carlos Boozer, David West, Brandan Wright (9'0.5")
Tyrus Thomas
Hakim Warrick
Marvin Williams
Wilcox (8'11.5")
Al Horford, Jason Maxiell, Haslem (8'11)

Not saying the kid is a shoe-in for stardom, but he's "longer" that people give him credit for because he's not the lanky type that clearly appears long. He'll be able to rebound and block shots occasionally (good shot blocking instincts) and that's what this team needs.

And though Horford was the more refined offensive player (playing with a much better supporting cast mind you) Hendrix has a few pounds on him...but Horford does have 7 inches (!!) of vert on Hendrix...

Anybody think Gerald Green could have been good had he gone to college a few years? Or was he just a knucklehead?
