NFL.com Information

Last meeting
In a battle of two defensive heavyweights, Pittsburgh pulled out a 13-9 victory after Ben Roethlisberger directed a 12-play, 92-yard drive that ended with a controversial touchdown to Santonio Holmes with less than a minute left in the game.

Streaks
The Steelers have won three of the past four matchups to claim a 16-10 overall series lead. Check out the historical matchup of the last five games between the teams.

Last week
The Ravens relied on their defense again, forcing three turnovers to knock off the No. 1-seed Tennessee Titans, 13-10. ... Willie Parker rushed for 146 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Steelers past the San Diego Chargers, 35-24.

Keep your eye on ...
Kicking at Heinz Field: The Steelers and Ravens typically play very close games -- the two meetings this year were decided by a combined seven points -- and field goals often make the difference. Pittsburgh's Heinz Field is notoriously tough on kickers, and whoever is better able to handle the conditions could give his team an edge.

Playmaking linebackers: The Ravens' trio of Bart Scott, Ray Lewis and Terrell Suggs comprise one of the league's best linebacking units, but the Steelers' foursome of James Harrison, Lawrence Timmons, LaMarr Woodley and James Farrior might be even better. Expect both teams' linebackers to be right in the middle of the action all day.

A rookie tale: In 2004, Roethlisberger had one of the best rookie seasons ever for a quarterback when he led the Steelers to the AFC Championship Game. Baltimore's Joe Flacco is having a great rookie season in his own right and looks to one-up Roethlisberger on Sunday by beating the Steelers to get to the Super Bowl.

Did you know?
This is the first time since 1999 that two teams from the same division will square off in the conference championship. ... The Ravens rushed for a season-low 50 yards last week against the Titans. ... Ravens coach John Harbaugh became the fifth rookie head coach to win two playoff games. This week he could join the three-win club, which already includes Bill Callahan, George Seifert, Red Miller and Don McCafferty. ... The Steelers make their fourth conference championship appearance in the last eight seasons.

This going to be 1 of those old school Pittsburgh Steelers vs Houston Oilers type of knock down drag out type of games. Whoever wins (hopefully its mt Steelers) they will know that they have been in 1 helluva game!

From everything I'm hearing, the Ravens will be without Rolle for the Steelers game.

Suggs is highly doubtful.

Ugh....

The Steelers will be 3-0 against the Ravens this season and Super Bowl Bound after this game

Just to get serious for a moment, the Ravens are the team I least wanted the Steelers to face in the playoffs. We totally despise one another on the field and it will be a difficult task for the Steelers to beat you guys for the 3rd time this season.

I chose this same picture when I made the game thread on the Steelers board. I was even on here posting before I made the thread and didn't even realize it until now.

I guess a Ravens fan and a Steelers fan can have similar likes at something

Yeah, it's a pretty nice picture. Beats some of the others I use for stadium pics for other teams.

I'm just going to chalk this up to coincidence.

We've been heavily outplayed going into the half and yet we're only down six at the moment. It's like a skill of ours that no matter how outmatched we appear on the statsheet, we will still manage to keep the score close enough so that the other team is given an opportunity to bury itself.

Ngata and Pryce are getting some great pressure out there. Too bad we aren't getting anything from the other side of the D-line.

A nonexistent offense will do that to you.

And that's all there is, folks. But I suppose this is as good as you can do when your offense is this brutally inconsistent.

It looks like I was the only guy to get that poll question right. What do I win, a trip to the SuperBowl? Good, I will take it

I hope Mcghee's injury isn't very serious.

As I said in the General NFL Forum's thread....

Ugh...that penalty on our no-name defensive player was just horrible (not in the sense it was a bad call but in the sense that the Ravens player is an absolute MORON). I mean, it's the 4th quarter. 6 minutes left. We have the ball, 1st and 10, on our own 40. Down 2.

All we needed was a FG for the win....and our idiot of a defender pushes the Steelers player clearly when out of bounds.

Other than that, it was a good game and has been a terrific season for the Ravens. Pittsburgh was simply better tonight, so you have to give them their props.

It would be nice to have a healthy roster, though. Baltimore was just decimated by injuries this season...

you're absolutely right about that penalty, i know people get fired up but truly good teams rarely make those kind of mistakes.

flacco wasn't very good but for quite a while, nobody was getting open and then later when they were, he was hitting the throws. he was overthrowing on deep balls though.

kinda makes you wonder how our bye week getting screwed up affected the team
