you're right about one thing in this thread...
arod is all about money. at the end of the day, i honestly dont think he cares if he wins a championship. anything hes said about being a yankee is just talk for the media and the fans. Come on, if you just got traded to the yankees, are you going to say "Oh, im here to play ball and try my best"?

arod would leave the yankees if someone else offered 2-3 million/year more. that is a fact. hes seeped out as many endorsements and deals as he possibly could as a new york player. those deals are lifetime. hes got no more use for the yankees, other than a 35million dollar/year contract.

but.. about 4 million.

sure, i suppose the yankees could hit 4 mil without arod, but who exactly is going to hit home runs on this team if you dont have arod next year? home run threat puts asses in the seats. this is why the giants have the better road attendance draws- and bonds doesnt even play on the road.

yes, clearly a-rod doesn't care about winning. his stats definitely reflect that.

Keeping AROD will not hurt us in getting Johan Santana if he hits the market.

Even if they are the best players in the game? Best pitcher, best hitter and best closer in the game all on the Yankees. Pretty sure Steinbrenner would love it. Plus, you know if we don't win this year or next, someone is getting fired and the checkbook is opening up wide because of the new stadium. Imagine day 1 of the 2009 season. Johan Santana going 8 innings, with Mo closing it out. Arod and Tabata going yard. :droop:

Jitpal do you really think Tabata will be that good of a major league player when he is that young? Or that Rivera will still be the best closer in the game in a couple years? I wouldn't bet my life savings on either of those happening....but thats just me.

First of all, it is a fantasy. Second of all, Tabata can hit a home run in the majors, why couldn't he hit one on opening day? I don't know if Mo would be be the best at that time, because it is up for argument at this time if Mo is the best this year. However, Mo being the best of all time, is possible and very easy to sell. I'm sure you can see those commercials talking about the best hitter today, the best pitcher today and the best closer of all time, all on the same team. -Jitpal
