I think so, I mean the Nationals aren't that good of a team but they scored 7 runs. What surprises me the most is that is that they only gave up 1 run. The Nationals offense isn't that bad, I mean they can put some numbers on the board. If we can pitch like this consistently, then we would be a very tough team to beat. We have a great offense, we are just always down in the early innings and can't come back.

Tonights Game: September 9th

Turner Field | 7:05 PM ET

Matt Chico, LHP ~5-7, 4.78~
Nationals ~63-78~ @

Chuck James, LHP ~9-10, 4.27~
Braves ~72-69~

Scouting Report:

Nationals: In the first seven innings on Sunday, Chico was in a pitchers' duel with San Francisco left-hander Barry Zito. They both pitched seven innings and gave up one run, but it was the Nationals who won the game, 2-1, in the bottom of the ninth inning on an RBI single by Ryan Zimmerman. The key to Chico's success on Sunday was his control; he was able to hit the corners and keep his pitches off the middle of the plate.

Braves: James came off the disabled list on Saturday and felt no discomfort in his previously ailing left shoulder. But while allowing the Mets three earned runs in five innings, the 25 year-old southpaw was once again illed by the longball. He surrendered two homers to runs his team-high total to 27, all of which have come over the course of his past 125 1/3 innings. He is 1-1 with a 3.31 ERA in three starts against the Nationals this year.

I'm not going to get excited until we win at least 5 in a row.

Atlanta didn't get much help today.

Mets won, Philly won and the LA Dodgers won.

Will see of CO can beat San Diego and hopefully STL beats AZ.

Of course Atlanta will need to win for any of this to matter!

Tonights Game: September 9th

Turner Field | 1:05 PM ET

Jason Bergmann, RHP (3-5, 4.30)
Nationals (63-79) @

Lance Cormier, RHP (2-4, 6.69)
Braves (73-69)

Scouting Report:

Nationals: Since returning from a left hamstring injury, Bergmann has looked better than ever on the mound. He threw seven innings on Monday, allowing just one run and striking out nine. The righty's sinker is coming in faster than it did before the injury, and he's using an impressive variety of pitches to retire hitters.

Braves: Cormier came up empty in his first five starts this season, but has now won two in a row. In truth, he has pitched much better in his last four outings than he did in his first four, which included one relief appearance. Cormier is 2-2 with a 3.12 ERA since Aug. 17. Against the Phillies on Sunday, he allowed a season-low one run in 6 2/3 innings. Cormier is 3-1 in the past two Septembers. He is 3-3 lifetime against the Nationals in eight appearances, including three starts.
