I cant believe Vic bought Elways shtick :nonono: . I would not have take a job in which we do not have a franchise signal caller in place .

I wouldn't mind Bowles as a replacement hes aggressive and can add a new wrinkle

Awhhh :banghead: Bowles goes to the Bucs and I would not be surprised if Donatel follows Vic to become Broncos DC. Next on my list would be Rex Ryan and then Greg Williams as a long shot because of his off the field stuff .

How are we not the favored destination with the defensive talent we have?

There are other things at play like do we even want to get involved with a coach who may be here one year and then bolt for a hc opportunity .

Another thing is Vic had full autonomy so Nagy could focus on the offense and Nagys another year from being able to divert attention away from the offense so you need a veteran DC that can be flexible, innovative and build upon what Vic started

Steve Wilks is a veteran and most likely a safe choice from being hired away at least for a couple of years.

It appears that it's now between Donatell and Chuck Pagano. The advantage of Donatell is that it provides continuity and may help the team retain more of the other assistants. Pagano certainly has all the experience you could want and by all accounts is a solid guy.

I find it interesting that most of the media I'm hearing don't think that replacing Fangio is a big deal. These are the same people who stressed how important it was for the Bears to retain Fangio last season and lauded Fangio for the defense's success this season.

I don't like being negative, but I think Fangio is an extraordinary defensive coach (genius?). He'll be hard to replace.

Pagano's a good hire. Like Fangio, Pagano has a ton of experience and can command the locker room. I'll still miss Fangio though.
