Rumour: Mcnabb a Bear?...who knows

Post#1 » by ChiCitySPORTS#1 » Mon May 21, 2007 10:04 pm

Was the recent drafting of quarterback Kevin Kolb a sign that the Philadelphia Eagles might trade Donovan McNabb before the 2007 season?

That's one theory, anyway. As for a possible destination, the Chicago Bears are ready to win the Super Bowl. They might have won it last year except for a glaring weakness at quarterback.

The key to this scenario is Bears linebacker Lance Briggs, who has said publicly that he will never play for Chicago again and who refused to report to minicamp on Friday.

Briggs is, arguably, the best weakside linebacker in the game and is only 26. He could help Philly rebuild its defense while Kolb gets ready to take control of the offense.

Who knows what can happen, this is somewhat unlikley..but hey, anything can happen..plus i dont think Mcnabb is too happy in phily any ways.

I doubt it will happen. The Eagles said they signed Kolb for insurance and McNabb is safe.

i'd love the trade rex, briggs, and a second and 5th round pick for mcnabb, better be sooner then later, he'll need time in the offense.

reading it though, it isn't an inside source or rumor, just one guy who writes for the phil paper talking out his ass on what he thinks they should do.

if its gonna cost that much, forget it. However if we can do a Briggs + draft pick, I'd do it. I don't see why Lance would not have higher trade value that Donovan, he's younger and at the peak of his game whereas Donovan is aging and seems to be injury prone. Either way, I'd do this trade in a second!!

I'd love to do this, but obviously the Eagles won't.

This would be a great trade for the Bears. Instead of throwing Grossman in the trade, send Griese over. I still like Rex a lot, and would like to see him stay a Bear

Seeing as how Briggs is talking about sitting out, the Bears would have to be completely (Please Use More Appropriate Word) not to accept the trade.

McNabb: More to me than only being Birds QB
Link
IT WAS OBVIOUS yesterday that Donovan McNabb is trying to rehabilitate more than only his right ACL.

McNabb held his second media session away from the NovaCare Complex in 10 days, again in connection with his upcoming charity golf tournament. This time, the Eagles' quarterback moved from table to table at the RiverCrest Golf Club in Phoenixville, where the tournament will be held on June 15, chatting casually with small groups of reporters about his rehab, his first encounter with rookie QB Kevin Kolb at last weekend's minicamp, and his outlook on handling the tricky business of being the focal point of the franchise that dominates the area's sporting landscape.

For many of the reporters, it was their first encounter with McNabb when he wasn't seated at a podium, behind a microphone. And that was really the point, just as it was in McNabb's previous such excursion, May 8 in Voorhees, N.J. That time, he spoke to only a few media outlets. Yesterday's event included just about anyone with a microphone, camera or notepad willing to make the trek out Route 422, and lunch was included, McNabb shaking hands at the head of the buffet line.

well, what steam the rumor had, is gone. I figured as much. Briggs will either play or not get paid. The bears are now doing this to make an example of briggs and are 100% willing to lose out on what we could get for him, and force a chunk of salary cap next year as well just to let other players on the team know it's about team not "ME".
