Matt Maiocco, of the Santa Rosa Press Democrat, reports the Chicago Bears have called the San Francisco 49ers about possibly trading for 49ers OG Justin Smiley, according to Smiley.

I found this article, what do you guys think. Maybe Alex Brown, or Briggs????

I looked all over the rumor sites, where did you find this? Looks like kffl but I didn't see it. Add looking at the scouts grade, he's rated lower then garza. Don't know if we'd give up much for him, especially after we drafted a good G prospect in the draft and have metcalf locked up long term cheap.

I saw it in a different forumn, but he didn't supply a link either. But a few posters mentioned that they heard the same thing. I didn't really think a Briggs or Brown straight up trade would work, but those are really the only two people I could think of that were available. From what I have seen, I would say that Smiley is better then Garza, but I don't think he is that great.

Briggs for :D , that would be stupid. However, I could see a Brown for Smiley+ low pick: making that deal seem balanced.

We already have three starting quality guards in Reuben Brown, Garza and Metcalf with fourth round pick Beekman being valued as a late second round pick by most draft experts. I wouldn't mind adding a young tackle, but giving up anything for a guard at this point seems unlikely.

yeah, agreed, we won't be trading for another gaurd. Beekman will be a c/g.

Tait/St. Clair

Brown/Metcalf

Kruetz/Beekman

Garza/Metcalf/Beekman

Miller/Brant

that's 10 Oline, I don't see us keeping 11.

ok, well, we'll keep one more 10th stringer, but usually only suit 7 or 8 on game day.
