Hopefully the Rockies can start this season off with a little success. A lot of young talent, but obviously the pitching has to be a reason for concern.

i'm actually excited for Rockies baseball for the first time in a long time. I honestly think they can do some damage this year. I am glad that opening day is vs. the DBacks, being that I live here in AZ, this way I can watch opening day for the Rockies. It'd be nice to get off to a quick start. I think our first 17 games or so are against NL West teams.

Let's start off by taking 2 of 3 vs the Dbacks (all 3 if possible).

Go Rox!!

I'm actually surprisingly excited as well. The pitching staff is a serious cause for concern, but who knows.

Doubt that will happen

Watch out for the rockies this year, they got a really young and talented team and if todd helton actually shows up this year watch out!!!

I have Holliday on my fantasy team. Hope he has another great season! I also have Hawpe and Fuentes. Huge years for them too!

I think the NL West will actually be pretty tough this year. The Dodgers, D-Backs, and Padres all have pretty good teams, and I think this could be the year we finally break into the playoffs.

I was in Arizona last week and went down to Tucson and caught the Rockies last home game which was coincidentally against the DBacks. We lost 3-2 but we played our opening day lineup other than Cook. Taveras looked good but other than that no one really stuck out. I also saw us play the Cubs a few days later and got to see Cook pitch. He did pretty well, 4 or so innings and I don't think he gave up any runs, but we ended up tying 4-4.

Holliday's my boy. I'd really like to see him get off to a good start again this year.

Good luck on the upcoming season fellow Nuggets fans, I'm a Cubs fan so you won't be seeing me around here much. :)

I don't think we'll see decent pitching around these parts much either.

Brandon Webb isn't going to be an easy task on opening day. He's defending his Cy Young. This could be *gulp* a low scoring affair. That is, unless Cook gets shelled.

btw, I really like Tulowitzki, and I have for quite some time. I've been telling all my friends way before this season started (even dating back to last season and before). I went to Arizona State and saw TT play against us when he was with Long Beach St. So I've seen him a bunch, and this kid can play. I wouldn't be surprised to see him competing for Rookie of the Year. I know a few "experts" have already said the same thing too, but I just thought I'd throw it out there for people in the forum to discuss (since NOW I can finally do that with baseball since we have forums for this now).

Tough loss, but the bottom of the lineup played really well. Hopefully they bounce back with a W tomorrow.

there were definitely a lot of good things I saw in this game, but also some things that weren't so good (like SO many strike outs). but tomorrow is another day!

The middle of the order, other than Hawpe, was terrible yesterday. Holliday was swinging at garbage all game and really didn't look comfortable. Hopefully Atkins/Holliday/Helton bounce back today and light up Livan.

http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/preview?gameId=270403127

There's the preview for tonight's game, courtesy ESPN.

Francis went 8-4 with a 4.30 ERA in 15 starts at Coors Field last year. He is 3-1 with a 3.56 ERA in five career starts against Arizona.

The Diamondbacks will counter with Livan Hernandez, who went 4-5 with a 3.76 ERA in 10 starts last season after being acquired in a August trade with Washington.

Hernandez has struggled in Colorado, though, going 2-3 with a 7.91 ERA in 10 starts. Rockies first baseman Todd Helton is batting .529 (27-for-51) with two home runs, nine doubles and 14 RBIs against the right-hander.

That's a good sign.

From what I saw last night Holliday really needs to be more pateint at the plate. I mean there were times where he would swing at the 1st pitch or swing at a balll in the dirt it just frustrated me. Hopefully we bounce back tonight.

That Corpas guy looks like a real good young pitcher. He has some sick pitches.

Indeed what I don't understand is why does he only pitch in the 7th. He has had 2 1-2-3 Innings one last night and one today and they take him out. and Put Latroy in.

Although Latroy had a better night then he did last night. This is a good pitching Deul but I wonder when Hernandez will be taken out.
