No more "Lights Out Lidge" as the stopper. He is now a set-up guy. :D

Wheeler just picked up his 1st save. I also picked up Wheeler in my fantasy leagues and dropped Lidge.

I would assume they are looking for any possible trades that may come around, but maybe he will do better in this situation now that he knows he won't be the closer.

I am very very happy Garner made this decision in the first week rather than waiting for months like last year.

But really how much faith do you guys have in Wheeler ... Our whole relief staff is abysmal

Toronto fan here...Will trade you Josh Towers, Tomo Okha, or Victor Zambrano for Brad Lidge...take it?

Ill take either one that can start a game, and finsh off decent, with a decent ERA.

He just gave up 2 runs and is threatening to blow this win for us.

edit: Ok we won but damn. We really need to start thinking about a trade maybe.

I think Wheeler will be ok really, every closer has a few bad outings, atleast he got the job done.

And didn't he close it out yesterday without getting into trouble?

But yes we should definately be looking at any possible trades/AAA callups that can improve our bullpen.

Sampson looked good, and our bats are coming around a bit. Well, not really, but Berkman/Ensberg will hit sooner or later and while Biggio isn't hitting as much as I'd like, Lee has gotten it going and Scott has looked nice. Surprise surprise, Everett is actually hitting? Wow.

Yea my only real concern at this point is our bullpen, which I thought would be a strength. I have faith in Wheeler/Qualls/Bork but only so much. We definately need to find someone else we can throw in there to strengthen it up.

But hey, we won 2 in a row, AMEN!.

Maybe I overreacted. We shall see. I mean you can't really argue with his ERA over the past couple of years. The closer role is just so pressure packed. Some guys don't pitch the same way in that role. I really hope that he can because our season is riding on it.

Yea, maybe Wheeler needs some time. He is obviously new to the role. It is more pressure than being a middle man.

TREVOR MILLER OF COURSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Where is Nieve? AAA? Probably won't be long before we see a few of those guys called up.

And can we officially start the countdown to Pence replacing Burke? CAN I GET AN AMEN?

That would be an interesting experiment.

I do however know he can't possibly be any worse in CF than Burke, and he's a much better hitter.

Don't be mad if sometime soon I start an "OFFICIAL BRING UP PENCE THREAD".
