Did we have to get rid of RJ that badly?

I would gladly take him right now with what we have going on. Igawa was clearly a panic reaction to DiceK, you knew Pavano wasn't gonna be reliable. Moose's age and second half decline last year were also warning signs at the time RJ was forced out.

Johnson while he was here pitched through pain and at least ate up innings despite the high ERA. The way this team is hitting, we could easily win off his typical 4-5 runs in 6+ innings, plus protect the pen a little more. Everyone went into a witch hunt against this guy because he wasnt a cy young, but like I said back then, what did we have to lose by keeping him? Especially since we got jack in return.

Randy hasn't even pitched yet this season. Randy will decline even more this year but you won't notice it because he will be back in the national league. There is no such assurance that he would be better than Mike Mussina or healthier for that matter. Plus, Vizcaino is a good reliever but he is just very overworked. Ohlendorf is also an excellent starting pitching prospect who will probably give us more than Randy could for us this year. -Jitpal

the fact that clemens hates johnson is enough for me to get rid of him. He hasnt pitched one game this year. So even if he was a yankee he would not help us.

Yeah, I think moving Johnson was still a very good idea. I'd expect the Yankees to go Ron Jeremy in his prime hard after Johan Santana.

PHOENIX (AP) -- Randy Johnson returned to the Arizona Diamondbacks, looked his age and was outpitched by another 43-year-old.

David Wells got the victory in the oldest matchup of left-handers in major league history, leading the San Diego Padres over Arizona 10-5 Tuesday night.

Six months after back surgery, the Johnson (0-1) gave up six runs and six hits in five innings against San Diego, his first start for the Diamondbacks since 2004. The Big Unit, who struck out seven, allowed two home runs and two doubles. He walked four -- two intentionally -- hit two batters and threw just 53 of 97 pitches for strikes.

Ok, he sux, and you guys are right, if it meant not having Pettite to keep him, then I much prefer Andy. But you gotta admit, it took balls to make the thread right before his start though!
