If healthy is Stafford a top 7 QB?

Post#1 » by joseph mamah » Fri Jul 27, 2012 6:55 pm

I think everybody can agree that Brady,Rogers,Brees,Big Ben and Eli are top 5 in whichever order, but Romo,Newton,Rivers,Ryan,Vick,Peyton and Cutler all have ? marks id rather have Staff than any one of them.

I think he is, especially when you consider his major question mark is his health. Most of the other guys have questions about their overall skill level, ability to perform under pressure, or mental capacity...

Yes, absolutely. Look at his numbers last year. Stafford's ridiculous season was totally missed by people too hyped on Cam or excited about Brees, but he put up some incredible numbers. He improved his decision making a ton and he can make absolutely any throw in the book.

I think the same goes for Big Ben as well. All those rings play into the top 5 factor.

I'd go Rodgers, Brady, Brees, Eli as the consensus top four (Eli in large part because of the repeated success) but the next tier is a mess and I like Stafford more than most of the other guys. However, as a non-lion's fan, I have to wonder how impressive stafford would be if you swapped Megatron out with a WR like Miles Austin or Jordy Nelson.

Madden 13 has him at #8 behind top five plus peyton and rivers.

I want to see him do it again for 15-16 games before I put him up that high. The talent is there, just has to show the consistency. I'd like to see him start games better too; he ranked 27th in QB rating in the first quarters of games, behind Rex Grossman among others.

He needs to improve on third downs too, he only completted 52% of his passes on third down last year. that isn't going to cut it.
