Do we go Milliner? Dion Jordan? Trade back?

Jordan or maybe Mingo if they cannot trade back. I cannot say this loud enough: THE LIONS ARE NOT INTERESTED IN DEE MILLINER AT #5. Not directed at you ajax, screaming at the world in general :curse:

If you want the Lions to trade back, hope that no QB goes above them because that would mean both Fisher and Joeckel are gone and a team wanting Lane Johnson will be very antsy. The problem is that the Browns don't need a tackle in the next pick and nobody believes the Lions will take Johnson, so they could wait a pick and give CLE less compensation than DET. Or a team wanting Milliner before Cleveland can get him at 6.

Worst case draft scenario for the Lions is Joeckel, Fisher, Milliner, and Ansah being the top 4 picks (order doesn't matter). And that could happen, though I don't think Milliner has much of a chance to go that high.

Best case scenario for the Lions is both Geno Smith and Star Lotulelei in the top 4. Dream scenario is Joeckel 1, Geno 2, Star 3, Jordan or Mingo 4. And that could happen too.

As for taking a WR, it won't be at 5 but it's a big possibility in the 2nd or 3rd. Personal preference is Robert Woods in the 2nd. I want nothing to do with Justin Hunter, described by his own teammates as soft.

Would they use Jordan at DE or LB? Or use him all over the field?

Remember the Julian Peterson role, SLB in base D, RDE in nickel, outside DE in 5-man lines? That's Jordan.

If Fisher, and Joeckel are off the board at 5, miami looks to be wanting to move up. I wouldn't mind picking up a extra second round pick. Drafting warmack or austin at 12, then grabbing werner and Safety? in the second?

I'm down for that. I do think this year presents the most realistic chance to trade down and pick up an extra pick or two in years. I would love to fall back to Miami's pick at 12 and take a WR or DE. I'd go to the Jets at 9 too and see what they'll give up. But Miami has an extra second (the Colts pick) and that gives them flexibility and firepower.

Could we pull off what St. Louis did last season?

Trade down to #9 with the Jets....then trade down from #9 to #12 with Miami?

I would not draft a WR, I would draft a TE in the 4th or 5th round. I want OL and defense the first 3 rounds. If Fisher is there he would be my pick. If we move down at 12 I like Trufant CB. Hunt DE and a LB in the second. OL in the 3rd. DE in the 4th. TE in 5th. S in 6th. K and DT in 7th.

Lions have taken a wide receiver in each of the last four drafts, two in the second round and one in the third,But general manager Martin Mayhew remains undaunted.

"I'll keep loving receivers," Mayhew said during his postseason media address, "but I've got to pick them better."

Presently, there are 12 receivers on the roster — Johnson, Burleson, Broyles, Mike Thomas and Devin Thomas, Durham, former Redskin Terrence Austin, and practice squad players Patrick Edwards, Troy Burrell, Dominique Curry, Lance Long and Chastin West.

I don't think Mayhew wants to fall too far unless the booty is real overwhelming. But nothing is impossible in this draft.

Aaron Dobson is fast (4.34) & acrobatic w/ great hands. He offers the downfield, vertical threat needed on the outside to draw coverage away from CJ. Burleson & Broyles are slot receivers. Maybe he's available in the 4th. The Lions may not want to telegraph their intent

If Fisher is gone and unable to move down than I would take Johnson OT from Oklahoma. Hunt DE in the 2nd round. Frederick OL in the third.

Rumor that Jax is down to two guys to choose from and that they are Dion Jordan and Geno Smith. Either of which is excellent for us. Let's hope it is true.

I forget the team, but a couple years ago some team traded down 2 or 3 times to keep adding picks. Thats what I hope the Lions do. And if I dreamed that or imagined that, I still hope that is what the Lions do.

I honestly hope Geno Smith is still on the board at 5 so some QB desperate team overbids to get the Lions pick.

as mentioned before miami's looking to move up. we do that move is fisher and joekel are off the board. If at 12 , Warmack or Austin are gone or not highly valued, then we could, but more than likely if we initially trade down then we'll pick up a 2nd round pick. if we trade down from 12 again, i would like future picks rather than more picks this year

Sounds like the Lions best play would be to get Joekel or Fisher at #5.

Backup plan might be Ansah or Jordan?

Back backup plan might be to trade down.

Interesting idea:

Miami(12th) and Atlanta(30th) are looking to move up

ONLY IF Fisher and Joekel are gone by #5, we trade down with miami, pick up and extra 2nd rounder and maybe 5th? If Austin or Warmack is gone by 12th, we trade down with Atlanta for the 30th pick, 2nd rounder this year and 2nd rounder next?

Draft Werner at 30

with 3 2nd round picks address OL,WR,S?

Draft Fisher or Johnson at 5. Take DE Hunt or CB Slay in the 2nd round

Return to Detroit Lions
