Re: 2011/12 Draft Prospects
Spent some time today looking at some corners that project to safeties in the NFL. Lots of solid mid-round talents there, hoping that the Lions go that route. The top tier of safeties does not excite me much.

Coryell Judie of Texas A&M. He thinks he's better at corner than he is, and most draftniks seem to think so too based on what I see. Makes a lot of plays on the ball in the air and he's very physical. He'll probably go 2nd/3rd round to a team that likes to play press man coverage. That was the story on Speivey too and look where he is.
Donnie Fletcher of Boston College, very long and not afraid to hit. He's either a zone corner or a safety, not real fast but pretty solid football IQ
Desmond Marrow of Toledo. He's 6'3" and played this year at about 210 but has been as high as 225 and it didn't hurt his speed. He's had some injuries but he played very well against both OSU and Michigan in the past. Doesn't have the feet to play corner in the NFL but at his size and with his instincts he can make a great nickel/dime package guy to match up with the split-out tight ends.
Trulon Henry of Illinois played corner at JUCO before becoming a safety and a pretty good one. He's got baggage--he's 26 and served time for felony burglary when he was just out of HS--but everyone around him raves about his character now. He's done all kinds of work with at-risk kids on his own, trying to make amends.

Thanks Ice, good info, per the usual.
Desmond Marrow sounds pretty intruiging.

I want to believe you (I don't, but just trying to be polite), but after you guaranteed Prince A wouldn't be there when we picked last season, I've lost all faith.

WR Justin Blackmon and Morris Claiborne or Alshon Jeffery, if one falls to the lions would you have take him, with out a second thought in the first round.

No thanks, I'll pass.
Look for CB, S, or OL. Maybe even a LB since Tulloch can walk after this season if I'm not mistaken....

Re: 2011/12 Draft Prospects
For Ice, and others if they know, thoughts on Mike Adams, LT from the Ohio State University?
From where we will probably be picking and assuming some OL guys go early, it seems like he has the best chance of being around when we pick. Certainly has the size to play LT. Seems like a Lions type pick to me
Any chance we go C (Konz) or G (Osemele)? Any way DeCastro falls to us (I hear very good things)?

Re: 2011/12 Draft Prospects
Adams has strong potential but he was pretty inconsistent. I'm up in the air on him.
I would love Konz as the center for the next decade. He's bigger than most centers and I think that would suit the Lions well going forward. He should be available in the 20s. Late teens is a little high for him IMO. Of course Raiola has been great lately, but he is getting old.
Decastro would also be strong. Real NFL-ready guard that is used to playing pro sets and has almsot flawless technique. He could go top 1, more likely 15-25 though.
Osemele should be a 2nd rounder but a higher one than the Lions have. I still like him but he has some flaws that may or may not go away.
Still pretty early to ascertain draft slotting, all just guesstimates at this point. Right now scouts are finalizing season reports and getting ready for workout season. HBCU all star game is this week, not much activity there from what I hear.

Re: 2011/12 Draft Prospects
ICE - what is you take on Molk vs Brrewster? I always sawBrewster as the better prospect. Have you seen differently?
I would personally LOVE a draft where we got OG DeCastro in the 1st round, and OC Brewster in the 2nd. But maybe I should be hoping to get Molk instead?

I prefer Brewster. Molk is not bad though; I would like him better than Brewster if I had a mobile QB and did a lot of perimeter running, like Philly or Denver. He is a lot like Jason Kelce, rookie 6th for the Eagles that has played very well for them.

Assuming we draft in the upper teens (1st round, obviously) or low 20's, do you think it would be realistic to get OG DeCastro in rd 1 and Brewster in rd 2?
Seems to me the Mayhew likes trading 2nd rounders PLUS to get late 1st rounders. That could be an option as well --- or DeCastro/Konz??
